I was always going to lose that deal long term, but Eller's abysmal season paired with Malgin making it a couple of yrs earlier than I envisioned are making it horrendous right from the 1st season.

Though, given the type of player he's (not exactly what my team needs) I still doubt Malgin would crack my roster in the future.

Sounds like a dog at my roster and bragging about all the rapes you've pulled off over the years at the same time. It's OK I know it hurts deep down inside and your secret is safe with me. :D

Nice farewell game by Geno on Saturday with 2 PPG and GWG.

Best of luck to him in Detroit.

TJ is -5 and has 15 pts in 29 games at the time of his start with Nashville (tonight roster lock).
Malkin is +5 and has 30 pts in 28 games at the time of his start with Detroit.

I'll trade you Corey Perry for an appropriately smaller haul then. Not that far off!

Perry is Malkin-lite on the wing, for 900K cheaper!

Yeah, I was grinning when I saw Geno pot a couple on Saturday night.

Johnson has been a steady guy for me but his offense runs hot and cold. Same goes for Trocheck. The positive for Trocheck...he's better with periphs than Johnson. If I can get steady scoring from Malkin, I can live with the downgrade in periphs.

I'll also benefit from having 6 healthy defensemen for a change. Had Fayne briefly this week before he got hurt again. Folin is cleared for action but I can keep him in the minors for this week and see how he does in his return. If Fayne is going to be out "for a while" as they report, then I can LTIR him and bring up Folin.

Good luck the rest of the way, Mik...

Good thought but Malkin is a better goal-scoring option right now.

Malkin now leads the entire league in PPG, Perry is 120th in the same category, his pace is basically half of Malkin's.

I feel like this was probably a joke, but was going through this thread and just had to quote it :)

Geno wudve broke 100 pts this yr for sure
Too bad hes never fully healthy yearly
But actually theres a good reason for that and i understand it. He should play optimally moving forward in his 30s at about 68-70 games per season.
A man of genos stature (6'3"+) and weight of over 220lbs

The way he plays involves elite level athelticism
Easy for people to wow and ah at it on tv but often times it induces more stress on intricate parts of the limb that might be harsher in terms of wear and tear than hard hitting guys like ovi
Look at the way he especially creates plays in offensive zone at high speed. He also changes up speed at a very quick interval
Lots of carving/going against gravitational pull
Sudden stops/manuevering involving ankle muscles in the slot area at high speed
Lots of knee ligaments/quadriceps stress-induced movements at elite level pace
They will inflame (get hotter) quicker and one or two decent hits to the area he cant use the body parts to his god-like level. He would probably rather sit out than play at a suboptimal level

Does a lot of chip damage and require some downtime throughout. Again for smaller elite players gravity plays to their favour but someone like malkin who does more contortions than ovi does (he just charges rly fast and shoots and hits) and also uses his big frame to duke it out will require some off time.

In certain physical aspect it is
In order for malkin to play thr way he does
Its not a direct side by side comparison in terns of force taken/asserted

Or it's just a progression of his decline. Been slowly showing signs for a few years now.
