He's freaking awesome, was one of the AHLs top scorers this year...was also a top scorer in college.

He's a poor mans kessel...can fly down the wing and let a wicked wrist shot go.

Iihf now covering travel and NHL insurance for the players to go to the olympics. Sounds like the NHL wants some sort of sponnsorship agreement before allowing players to go though. ioc not budging.

It's a shame the iihf is paying that rather than the ioc.

does that make nhl players going to olympic more likely?

Matt is getting a goalie start.

Hutton will defend the crease against the Coyotes on Wednesday, Andy Strickland of Fox Sports Midwest reports.
Analysis: Hutton has made just two starts in the Blues' last 12 outings, but he secured wins in both of those matchups while posting a 2.00 GAA and .909 save percentage. St. Louis should earn a playoff spot, barring a significant collapse, which could mean a few extra outings for the 31-year-old in order to ensure No. 1 netminder Jake Allen is well rested for the postseason. With the struggling 'Yotes in town, it was a perfect time for coach Mike Yeo to put Hutton between the pipes.

Nice

Gibson is back though so I wasn't worried about not getting starts.

The east is very tight... leafs, sens, bruins, lightning, canes, isles (they lost a crucial game today) fighting for 3 spots in the east..

Tampa is a spooky team right now knowing what they don't have in the lineup. They still won last night without Kucherov on top of everything else. There's a lot of pride in that group and you can see the winning pedigree in the young players that have been winners in the AHL. Any NHL team with young players that succeeded in the AHL is likely going to have some success in the NHL.

Bernier is 8-0-1 though so Gibson may be backup for a while.

I think he will play next game after Bernier let in 4 and they need Gibson sharp for the playoffs.

Patrik Elias has officially retired.

The last of the Hobey Baker finalists has a home...Mike Vecchione signs with the Flyers. Aston-Reece and Will Butcher are the other finalists.

You know what would be a really interesting way to do the playoff format for both the NHL and even more so BBKL?

If the #1 Team in each conference got to choose their own playoff opponent, and then #2, and #3 and so on. I think it would make the regular season even more important as teams would want to choose who they match up against. And as a fan it would be interesting to see who teams choose.

^I'd be down... what would happen for subsequent rounds though? Bracket format or re-seeding or re-choosing?

You could either have the top ranked Teams choose the entire way, or just seed according to how the teams chose in the first round, or yeah, just reseed back to original rankings after the first.

I'd prefer top remaining Teams choose entire way.
