Why is Kovalchuk eligible? I thought we talked about only using players that were under contract last season.

Re: Protected Lists
Kovy doesn't need protection, he's a retired player....same would apply to someone like Chris Pronger.

I would assume the same applies to them. I would check capfriendly to make sure though.Loki wroteCOLONWhat about Dadonov and Voynov?

Guys like Pronger, Datsyuk and Savard would go on the list since they were under NHL contract last season. We also didn't use the injury designation...guys like Horton or Clarkson are eligible while in the NHL, they're leaving those players off. Also, we don't recognize NMC (no-movement clauses).
Re: Protected Lists
Hoping I don't have to protect kovy...

Kovy is officially a retired player, i'm99% sure he doesn't need protection

Re: Protected Lists
I'm positive he doesn't, the guys on That's Hockey said he doesn't need to be protected, and we are following the NHL rules.thom54 wroteCOLONKovy is officially a retired player, i'm99% sure he doesn't need protection

Re: Protected Lists
Who's making the rules on this shit. This should have been sorted a while back no?
Re: Protected Lists
We aren't following NHL rules though since all NHL UFAs are exempt and here they are all available. We own all assets regardless of contract situation and Kovy isn't really retired if he is playing currently and assumed to be returning to the NHL.
Slipped through the cracks it seemed with focusing on other things. Will try and get a quick vote, but it seems like only Kovy and Dadonov are players worth protecting that are affected.

It is differenttimwebb1212 wroteCOLONI'm honestly not sure what the exact rule is, but I do know that I own Dadonov in ADHL and have to protect him and I doubt it'd be different here.
Re: Protected Lists
we do everything half assed and just before deadline. you'll learn to accept it because no one seems willing to do anything about it.
Re: Protected Lists
I think Scott did a really good job organizing the sheets. It's not really viable to go over every player on a team to look for potential loop holes. At least this was brought up before rosters locked.

Re: Protected Lists
Kovy doesn't even have a NHL contract, and is only considering returning. I'm not sure why KapG needs to waste a P on him.
Re: Protected Lists
Dadonov is even less of a sure thing to return, does seem a waste to have to protect him

Should be resolved shortly if CC members come on.The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONKovy doesn't even have a NHL contract, and is only considering returning. I'm not sure why KapG needs to waste a P on him.
For the argument for protection it's because no player is exempt because of contract status. This league has always completely ignored contract status and you own the asset forever and you can keep as many retired players on you docs as you want in hopes they return.
