sounds like it ... what a shitty franchise
Having Miller at least gives them a chance to keep some games close, even if they end up losing them - sometimes providing a chance of victory is important to develop young players to achieve their potential in the proper situations.

More like Markstrom has never been a full time starter, so it would be foolish to give him 60+ games. That and if he gets hurt then what? If Demko was ready they would already be moving in another direction. Just gives them a whipping boy for another yr or 2.

for the AUSSIES

#Caps re-sign Aussie Nathan Walker to 2-year, 2-way contract. GM Brian MacLellan said Walker could make NHL debut next season.

Nope...he was a free agent claim a couple years ago by the Canadiens and was traded to Dallas.

Haha yeah he's already on a roster, I did check a while back. I honestly don't see him having much of an NHL career though

Probably the quickest and easiest deal to make of their RFAs. Apparently their priority currently is re-signing RFAs, then trying to make a deal with Oshie before he hits free agency.
I'd like to see Walker make the NHL, but his AHL numbers aren't that promising. I'm sure he'll get a call up, just long term I guess we'll see

I think teams with veteran goalies where they have a younger goalie they might prefer to protect at expansion will explore their options.

The Wings will have an interesting situation with Mrazek, Howard or Coreau. I'm sure they'll look to move a goalie rather than expose them. Bottom line, every team is going to have to expose a veteran goalie of some kind.

Believe Mike Smith can block something like a trade to 8 teams so dunno if he will really go anywhere. Agree with Scott lots of teams will listen on goalies in the coming weeks

The New York Post is reporting that more than six teams have been in touch with the New Jersey Devils regarding Ilya Kovalchuk. Also reports that he wants to stay in KHL so he can play in the olympics

George McPhee, the expansion Golden Knights' general manager, had such a busy week of trade talks at the NHL's pre-draft combine in Buffalo that he anticipates formally announcing several trades within the next few days.

McPhee's objective is stockpiling draft picks, and he didn't rule out acquiring them in exchange for players with high-priced contracts from teams experiencing salary-cap issues.
