I traded him for McAvoy + #36. I had a big need on D and McAvoy happened to be my highest ranked D prospect, so it made sense in my case.

No, I probably wouldn't trade McAvoy + 36 for #1.. but again, my team is different.

Keller is most certainly not a better prospect than Patrick or Hischier.
I disagree. I know I would not have traded him for #1 when I owned him.

Nor would I

I can't imagine a scenario in which Keller ends up a higher impact player in this league than Barkov.

Bet a lot of people would like to have a do-over passing on McAvoy.
Yes definitely McAvoy will be picked higher in a 20/20 hindsight.. hmm but over the history of the draft.. drafting a D very high doesn't really turn out well.. probably related to longer development..

i would not bet against it (and depends how you define "impact" player... higher scoring vs 2-way game?) but hence i said prospects are just overvalued nowadays

Why, Keller can score, he can set people up, he is excellent in all 3 zones, has wheels for days, excellent skater, no fear, plays all situations and plays C

Agree to disagree ;)

They are probably 1 and 2 though as far as D prospects go, regardless of order.

Barkov is a near PPG center who contributes to periphs, and he's only 21. Keller would have to be a 90+ point player to top the value Barkov already brings, and that's even under the massively flawed assumption that Barkov doesn't get any better.

All Keller has to do is stay healthy and be a near ppg player to have more value than Barkov. I think he can handle that.

He's so stellar yet was traded for a single draft pick..........hope he doesn't happen to come across this board anywhere I'm sure it will hurt his ego lol

I take McAvoy over Chabot all day. Chabot is really good in his own right though. Still McAvoy is about to be THE guy in Boston while Chabot will never get that opportunity.

"All he has to do is be a ppg player"

Also, he would need two play center on a team with strome and dvorak.

Only 7 or 8 players were ppg in the nhl this year.

Doesn't have to always be "the" guy for a team.. getting mentored by Karlsson would be the greatest thing for him.. and if he shows he can handle things well im sure he gets the PP minutes with Karlsson.. chabot can be the guy having 40-50 pts while karlsson getting 70-80 points.. and i'd be very very happy with that..
but have to agree.. McAvoy is a stud from what i see so far.. he's the safer pick right now until Chabot proves it otherwise.. i also have a feeling Chabot will struggle a bit during the transition.. but Chabot will have the higher potential IMO

Well I said be near ppg and healthy(something Barkov struggles with). Let's be real, Strome nor Dvorak have anywhere close to the level of skill that Keller does. Strome's ceiling is a 2nd line two way center. If Dvorak is your #1 center, you are a really bad team. Keller is literally the only one that can legitimately develop into an elite 1st line scoring center.
