And the yotes thing, is all the owner. Barroway wanted to rip the band aid off and move on. That's what's he's doing and he doesn't care about anyone's feelings on the matter. Chayka is obviously on board, he's made good personnel moves and cap deals. But if the coaching community views the job as a toxic one it might be really hard to steer them in the right direction.

Tippett is still a good coach but probably wasn't a fit for Chayka's vision. Chayka seems like an ambitious guy...has made some intriguing moves.

Don't think there's any job openings now but I can see Tippett getting a call once a team gets into some trouble during the season. Hell, if Blashill flounders this year...I'd give Tippett a call if I was Kenny.

Tip's a good coach, but his time in Arizona was up. He was unhappy with the Doan situation and the Smith trade, Barroway wanted to move on.. Culminates in a very poorly timed buy out. Chayka is probably on his own tonight, which isn't a bad thing, but no VP of hockey ops, head coach, CEO makes things tough.

I get the "competition" factor but that league was definitely better than the high school circuit and at least as good as the USHL that Mittlestadt was playing in and Makar's numbers are a lot more dominant. I think he's gonna be a really good player. He's the prototypical 2-3D man; great skater, passer, PP player +/- SHTOI depending on how his game grows.

But no way he is #1. 3-5.

Makar shouldn't go in the top 4 IMO. He's going to be a fine player, but he's easily in the 5-8 range for me.

older birth date, against shitty competition, wasn't even on his team's PK for most of the season ... this is a kid that should NOT be in the top 5 of this draft IMO. maybe top10 b/c of his upside ? i'd say mid 1st round (10-15)
