I'd rather just play more young guys in our system. And Hainsey is an error machine shielded in pit.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONDisagree... they need a vet back there and he played well in the playoffs. 2 years... not bad at all.Robin Hood wroteCOLONLeafs singed Hainsey? So fucking unnecessary.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Considering the price i paid to get vlasic, i dont really mind
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
It's probably more accurate to say that Pittsburgh won in spite of Hainsey but he's ok if you're only going to play him on your third pairingHandsome&FairMike wroteCOLONDisagree... they need a vet back there and he played well in the playoffs. 2 years... not bad at all.Robin Hood wroteCOLONLeafs singed Hainsey? Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
McPhee botched taking assets to trade badly. When you've got like 8 geriatric D to offload nobody is going to give you good value for them since they know you need to move them

ya man... sigh.. mcfleeced............... sigh.. i really wish vgk would be a good team

They drafted well at least, maybe they'll hit on a bunch of these late picks. They were always going to kind of suck in the first year or two anywayhong57 wroteCOLONya man... sigh.. mcfleeced............... sigh.. i really wish vgk would be a good team
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
This is what happens when you hire a boob. I'll be following Vegas, but shit... The league gave them all the tools to ice a competitive team, but noooooooo. Whatever.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
My breakdown after today's signings:
Good deals:
Leafs, Dominic Moore 1m x 1
Hawks, Sharp 1m x 1
Stars, Hanzal 4.75 x 3
Habs, Alzner 23.125 over 5 years
Ducks, Fowler 52m over 8
Ducks, Miller 2m x 2
Rangers, Pavelec 1.3m x 1
Pens, Niemi 700K x 1 (epic signing IMO)
Bad deals:
Pens signed Schultz 5.5m x 3 (IMO he is worth 1m less)
Canes, Justin Williams 4.5m x 2 (unnecessary during rebuild)
Canucks, Del Zotto 3m x 2 (stop trying to ice a playoff team)
Flyers, Elliott 2 years 5.5m (never any good goalie)
Sharks, Vlasic 7m x 8 (god, this team is going to be a shit show in 2-3 years)
Leafs, Hainsey 3m x 2
Wings, Daley 3.176 x 3
Canucks, Gagner 3.15 x 3
Overall:
Pens, Ducks, Rangers have done a fantastic job.
Chicago has lost all of its marbles, trying to reassemble a team that would have been good 3 years ago
Habs deserve a lot of credit...they are going after it and haven't done anything stupid yet this off season (there's still time for that)
Flames are also made solid solid progress in the last week. Battle of Alberta is going to be great over the next few years.
Sad to see the Canucks be in a weird limbo that looks eerily familiar to the Leafs post-lockout with that Sundin team
Leafs notes:
-Sucks we lost Brian Boyle
-Dominic Moore is a good signing, better than some other options we have on the 4th line and can replace what we lost with Boyle somewhat
-Disappointing Thornton doesn't want to come here for 2 years before we have to pay Matthews...could have been a great add here
-Hainsey is a filler and error machine, would rather have not signed him
-Overall (and most importantly), very happy this management group did not do something stupid to try to shortcut our rebuild. No overpayment for Hamonic and now no overpayment for free agents gives me a lot of confidence that Shanny/Lou are going to right this ship the right way. I'll live with Hainsey as a filler if that's the price we have to pay to get to an epic team with no cap handicapping contracts in 2 years.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Vlasic is a bad deal... for arguably one of the most consistent and best defensive defenseman in the game... okay. Fantasy wise, absolutely. Reality, it's fine.

Saw this on Reddit.
Laughed pretty hard at this one.

IMO at 30, that is not a deal you give. It will look god awful when he is 33. Look at what Seabrook's contract has done to Chicago.Tony wroteCOLONVlasic is a bad deal... for arguably one of the most consistent and best defensive defenseman in the game... okay. that's all up in the air, we won't know for a while if they did draft well.Loki wroteCOLONThey drafted well at least, maybe they'll hit on a bunch of these late picks.hong57 wroteCOLONya man... sigh.. mcfleeced............... sigh.. i really wish vgk would be a good team
What I know so far is that they made one of the worst looking pick of the draft with Brannstrom at #15 and passed on Mittelstadt at #6, doesn't sound like a promising start to me.
McPhee as a whole did bad by the look of it, but after all, he's still the same guy that traded Filip Forsberg for Erat, so we shouldn't be surprised.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I quite like Glass and Brannstrom but I probably would have taken Mittelstadt and Liljegren at those positions too. I guess time will tell how their drafting pans out. At least they have a lot of darts to throw but they really should have had a lot more quality picks rather than the bunch of 3rds and 4ths they've amassed so far.kyuss wroteCOLONthat's all up in the air, we won't know for a while if they did draft well.Loki wroteCOLONThey drafted well at least, maybe they'll hit on a bunch of these late picks.hong57 wroteCOLONya man... sigh.. mcfleeced............... sigh.. i really wish vgk would be a good team

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
George Mcphee may go down as one of the bottom 5 GMs in the past 20 years.
Doug McClain
Craig Button
That guy who is a NHL commentator in the US (ESPN maybe?)
McPhee has to be on this list.
