Simon - Had a good AHL year. Probably the best of the bunch.
Budik - hard to be excited about anything he has done so far.

Not really. Just comical considering teams that miss GP and have slots in their lineup can't be bothered to offer a 7th but yeah sure this package warrants a 5th.

what? as fas as I know he did fairly well there but since he was not given NHL games at 24 he understandably chose to go and get money in Europe rather than spending another season as a strong AHLer making little money

He had one good year and then completely fell off the map.

I guess for the good year you mean 2015/16, when he had 32 pts in 69 games despite playing behind more offensive defensemen like Honka and Lindell. He had the best +/- on the whole team (+18), thrice better than Honka and Lindell. We are only one season removed from that.

Last season he had a less productive season with 13 pts in 46 games, but still had the best +/- among defensemen on the team. The only falling off the map the guy did was getting tired of AHL hockey and going for the money in Switzerland, signing a *1 year* contract there.

But I guess the fact a guy like Lidstrom had consistently one of the best +/- on his team was just a coincidence
