Just occured to me that even if we went to a strictly divisional format where the first round is always 1-4 2-3 in each division for the first round, the west wiuld be the same this year.

I don't know which thread was and where it is now, but when the current seeding system shortcomings were brought up they went beyond this.

A normal 1-8 conference seeding would solve all problems btw, not only fairness wise but also improving a lot chances of keeping things interesting till the end of the RS (iirc previous 2 regular seasons' final stretches were ruined by the blocked-seeding system)
