2018 Draft Discussion
Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
Yeah, I just went and checked the time gaps in that old thread.2 were caused by the same people who are causing issues this year. Another caused by someone no longer in the league and 2 caused by people who have not generally caused long delays in previous drafts.

He knew he was up next last night because he posted he was going to bed if Dave didn't pick soon. He also logged in a few hours ago .

Don't poke the bear.

It's easy to laugh when you are typically one of the ones causing long delays.
Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
I've been patient up until this point. When you see the same behavior over and over again from the same people, it's god damn annoying. It's a complete lack of respect for the time of other people involved in the league.Malette18 wroteCOLONDon't poke the bear.
The typical response is "what's the hurry?" .... The consideration of 29 other people in the league waiting on you to make your pick with no clear indication that you are trading the pick, shopping it, or even an acknowledgement that you know you are on the clock.
Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
I pmed him right after I picked.

Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
I'm doing a time spreadsheet...will post it later.
right now I have the longest single time at 688 minutes
I went to bed shortly after 9 last night and totally forgot to check to see if picks 36 and 37 were made since the last pick I checked at 7:27 (watched tv until 10:40 then lights out)
won't happen again!

It's all good man, shit happens. Repeat offenders is what bothers me.

People were on him to pick in ADHL and it caused a huge ordeal. Want to avoid unnecessary ordeals.Lee wroteCOLONI've been patient up until this point. Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
One way to solve this is to implement a heavy reduction in your on the clock time if you let your picks expire.
It's not going to stop people running the clock for 11 hours 59 minutes but maybe it will hurry them along a bit.

Interesting. Could be like Chess each player gets an allotted time for the whole draft based on their # of picks. I'd image some abuse of trading picks to people to shift time would happen.Lee wroteCOLONOne way to solve this is to implement a heavy reduction in your on the clock time if you let your picks expire.

The 8 hours scares me with picks around 10-11PM. Someone could legitimately be asleep for their entire window.bills09 wroteCOLONImo 12 hours 1st Round

Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
Another idea I was toying with was slotted times, but when doing the math it didn't work out so well. Maybe someone could extrapolate on the idea.
Pick one is on the clocked from 8 am - 9 am
2 is 9 am - 10 am
3 is 10 am - 11 am
etc
your timer does not end until your alloted time expires, meaning if a of picks 1-2 go quickly, you still have until 11 AM to make your pick.
THe issue comes when reaching off peak hours. It's unreasonable to expect someone to be on the clock for an hour at 3 am. Using this method over a 12 hour time span per day would put us right around pick 48 ( very rough, quick math) right now. That sounds good now but the math yesterday put us father behind, not so much now that there have been so few picks over the last 20 hours.
12 picks a day sounds nice to me.

Re: 2018 Draft Discussion
Alternative is much shorter windows with a freeze overnight, but with people in different timezones that gets hairy too
