Like mik said, it's pretty obvious.

If buffalo bbkl had to play Toronto, nashville, Dallas, and lak they can't afford to have any weak rounds and still come out on top.

If dallas is in the other bracket and are playing Anaheim, Ottawa, Columbus and then buffalo, they can afford to have 3 weak weeks and still come out on top in those weeks.

Saying the best team always wins an entire playoffs isn't true, cuz weeks are compartmentalized.

Psychologically speaking u want all the top teams to meet at the end to hash it out, sure.
But really, if theyre really top teams, they'd play late into the playoffs anyway, and the next top team unfortunately knocked out early, it's inevitable at that round or a round after... Just weeding them out early.

New format allows weaker darkhorses to make a break for it and their "easier" road to the late rounds doesnt seem overshadowed by the potential upset and cinderella story for fans which is a better revenue driver nowadays more than anything

I can see that its not ideal for us since parity is at stake annually

We had all summer where this could've been discussed...and some of us who were making big changes under the assumption we'd still use the division format would've liked this resolved months ago if this is what people wanted. If we want to change beyond this year, let's get it resolved but I'm not happy with this being brought now. You can't make a change like this in-season.

Most things get done in season. People are busy during summer. So maybe finalize it this season for next season.

Let's go with the MLB format, top team from each division and two wild cards.. so 4 teams in a conference makes the playoffs This way we can have 23 teams rebuilding each years and no one will sell their first round picks as easy as how Paul goes to shit every day.
