Contracts
Re: Contracts
Because if GMs can just drop a contract whenever they want, they never have to be responsible with the claims that they make. They can pick up and drop at will and it makes for a very poor league IMO.
Hence, the early bird gets the worm will just own this process.
Also - the process cannot be followed in BBKL as it is in the NHL - because there is no consent from the players (clearly).
I would be opposed to any ''free'' terminations unless it is limited to x amount per year (like a compliance buyout sort of thing).

Re: Contracts
that is what I was going to suggest Hawks
have a limit of 2 or 3 contracts that can be just outright dropped
have a limit of 2 or 3 contracts that can be just outright dropped
Re: Contracts
That would be a reasonable middle ground.

Hey, maybe you could even contribute.

It was your idea - I say you should track it.Lee wroteCOLONkyuss wroteCOLONand one more thing to keep track of... for Scott of course

Re: Contracts
pretty easy to keep track of...just make a thread
Re: Contracts
we could also say the team has to have a minimum number of contracts before being allowed to drop someone...say 48
Re: Contracts
The team shouldn't have any reason to drop a contract unless they are at 50, no? If they make a trade that has them over that threshold, just indicate in the trade thread which contract is being dropped to make the transaction legal.
Re: Contracts
yeah, I mean, with my lack of contribution along the 8+ yrs I've been around here, I definitely feel the need to add something more on my deskLee wroteCOLONkyuss wroteCOLONand one more thing to keep track of... for Scott of course

Re: Contracts
I guess it's easier to complain than do something.

Re: Contracts
Tracking that wouldn't be hard to do...got a system down for all this stuff. Already working on a list of improvements for next year.
Re: Contracts
I'll also point out that we all ready have off season contract drops, which is above and beyond the NHL.

Re: Contracts
I was declined for the CC and regularly volunteer for anything that the league requires, from money for Fantrax to testing spreadsheets. I do my part.
