CAR deadline block

Post by kimmer »

Defenceman prospects welcomed as part of the package

Exempt from waiver exposure:
W Kurtis Gabriel - 650k AAV, 25 years of age, impending UFA (asking 3rd rd pick)
W Saku Maenalanen - 925k AAV, 24 years of age, just budding into NHL first year exposure, raped the shit out of SM-Liiga prior to coming to CAR, impending RFA (asking 1st rd pick)
D Scott Harrington - 675k AAV, made strong case last year to stick onto permanent top 6 d-core, all-round decent contribution esp to offence, impending RFA (asking 1st rd pick)
D Bogdan Kiselevich - 925k AAV, impending UFA, 28 years of age (asking 2nd rd pick)

Eligible for waiver exposure:
C Vlad Sobotka - 3.5M cap for another couple years, mostly brought in for leadership and defensive work, will chip in offensively when called for, reliable source of faceoffs and PK unit #1 worthy SHTOI
C Derek Ryan - Consistent 30-40 pt centerman with good amount of FOW and new category contribution addition of PK unit 1 SHTOI starting this season with CGY!, 3.125M x 3 years remaining
C Brandon Sutter - Consistent FOW/SHTOI producer with 20ish pts when HEALTHY... has not been that kinda year for him, eligible back from IR in 2 wks time
W Andreas Athansiou - Double A getting paid 3 mil for two more years, seems to be breaking out with improvements on a yearly basis since his rookie year, serious inquiries only
W Tomas Tatar - He seems to like Montreal, maybe the French Canadian girls treat him well, 5.3M cap for another 3 years and on the verge of a breakout season with his new club
W Magnus Paajarvi - Massive peripheral statistics, impending UFA 2020
D Brad Hunt - Will take a 2nd round pick nay year, recent promotion to WINGER position and producing offensively
W Melker Karlsson - 2.0M AAV, all-round solid periph guy + around 20 pts a season (asking two 2nd rd picks)
W Carl Hagelin - 4.0M AAV, massive penalty killer, impending UFA (asking two 2nd rd picks)
D Jaybo - Heavy defensive minutes for those looking to push for playoffs, 5.4M cap til the end of year before becoming a UFA
D Jamie Oleksiak - I still have love for the guy, asking 1st round pick (any year), at affordable 2.138M x 3 years remaining, reliable source of HITS/PIM/EV strength pts

I'd trade a 5th for Brad Hunt!

That's probably one move I'd regret doing if anything - I always feel he's worth more... basically another Marc-Andre Bergeron I suppose...

Any NHLer who is under 29 and isnt subject to a random scratch due to inexperience/bottom of depth is worth a 31st overall pick any year IMO

Maybe Paul should make up his mind? I'd wager that is the issue. Never had a sense of proper value. But it's okay, his personality makes up for his lack of Fantasy skills. That's what is important anyways.

Nobody would sell harrington for a measly 2nd rd pick
2nd + a quality prospect that i would consider, nobody would probably pay.
Hence, just a single 1st rd pick would be the proper value.
I would mayyybe consider two 2nds but one needs to be a very early one probably.

You might be hanging onto Harrington for a long time if you think he is worth a 1st round pick, even if 31st overall. I honestly did not even know he was still in the NHL until I looked it up. Colour me shocked!

You would be laughing all the way to the bank if you can get a 2nd for him.
