Even if that's not enough, no counter was given to try and get a deal to improve your situation.

What a difference a change of scenery makes.

No way would Strome while in Arizona come close to being worthy of being the other side of deal for Seguin. That's a nice situation for Cliff to have his value jump up that much and allow him to add a top offensive center like Seguin to his young roster. I think he's got the makings of a solid team before too long. He's already set up to get a good player in this upcoming draft. Things are looking up for Cliff.

Don't hate the trade for Arian either. Strome's value has obviously jumped up so he's a good stock to buy right now. Plus, he adds a 1st rounder...granted, it'll be a later 1st.

Yah rebuilders should always offload their 25 year old players. Especially the one that has arguably the best contract in hockey right now.l (ok Kuch is best but that deals done soon) Just to pick up that extra late first lol

I didn’t bother countering because I have no interest in trading scheifele. The offer didn’t pique my interest either, at all, so why counter it?

Anyways, I like this deal for you. No reason for cliff to give up extra assets for the older player when cliffs no where close to contending. Unless he’s not sold on what strome has been doing in Chicago and is selling high. That’s a possibility

Rebuilders should trade assets at their peak and expand their collection of quality assets. But that's just my opinion.

I think you'll be surprised at how long it takes to actually rebuild a team. It doesn't happen after a couple drafts and your players on your roster don't maintain their age either.

I'm sure someone in this league would give you a great haul for Scheifele.
