Quenneville to replace him, apparently. I still dream of seeing that franchise in Quebec City

The Leafs are clearly being outplayed, but is DeBrusk exempt from penalties or something?
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Hopefully Krug is out since we are losing Kadri.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
3 p.m. presser scheduled...Yzerman will be the next GM of the Red Wings. Holland is moving upstairs either for good or he's just stepping aside so he can jump on the Seattle job when that's available.
Either way...it's a beautiful day be a Wings fan. So much sadness in recent years with the passing of Mr. I, Gordie and Terrible Ted...the team hasn't been good since they moved into LCA...but I think the prospect pool is filling up nicely and the job is tailor-made for Stevie Y to finish the rebuild and hopefully this group can get over the finish line unlike the Lightning.
#19 returns on the 19th of month in 2019...someone had to have been thinking about that today.

Was this the reason he left Tampa?

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The way he laid it out, he legitimately wanted to be closer to home but also wanted to still be a GM. His wife and daughters still lived in suburban Detroit. It seemed like coming back to the Wings was his only option. He said that he commuted to Tampa and obviously traveled to the various cities to do his job. He was asked about his contract expiring before the season, instead of signing an extension he took this reduced role where he could be closer to home.
Holland had signed an extension to stay on as GM but he had to agree to move upstairs as an exec to make the job available. The curious move was Holland signing the extension for Blashill around the time they talked to Yzerman in March. I have to think he gave his blessing for that and I'm sure the agreement was already in place then for him to take the job...just needed the Lightning's season to end first.
It's not a surprise he came back but probably more of a surprise that Holland relinquished his role. I'm sure he's either getting a sweetheart contract or he's going to leave for another job eventually.
