If Spezza was scratched for the first 10 games, nobody would care as much. For me, it's when it's already been announced that he's playing Friday that irks me. There is no reason why you don't just reverse those games.

It's the salary on the last year of these short deals the top RFAs are signing that will tell you where the next deal after that could go. It's not confirmed on CapFriendly but $9 million on the third year of that deal...that'll be a beefy next contract.

Interesting to note that the extension will end the same year as Kane's and Toews' deal end. Only Seabrook is signed in '23-24.

I think this summer helped reset the market for these top young stars coming off their ELC. I can't imagine we have the same drama next summer.

I think they're really trying to stay out of the spotlight after the previous birth + Hoffman gf stuff. It got pretty crazy here when that was all going on, I'm sure less stress is desired during pregnancy.
