4 Matchups each this week.


Matchups of the week:
NSH/LAK: Arguably the two best teams in the West with an early season dual.

Toronto/Tampa: the 2nd/3rd place teams in the Atlantic last season. Tampa gets to see how badly they can whoop toronto after Toronto had to cap dump.


Edit: Atlantic Division has the top 3 teams in the league after week 1.

Yup, we play 82 regular season matchups. We still count category wins instead of matchup wins.

Yeah that's pretty cool. How come we stuck with category wins instead of matchup wins with the change to 82? Just curious, I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseam.

more people were for cat numbers cuz higher number excites them. and also thought certain matchup losses or wins that were close (like 7-8 loss) wouldn't be accurately represented/not be given enough credit by penciling it in as a simple 0-1 loss and might affect standings in a negative fashion (but it really doesnt

There are also 2-1 and 6-1 wins/losses in the NHL.

To use category wins rewards a team for winning 14-2 compared to a team winning 9-7. You still get the credit for the categories you win.

it definitely would change roster construction if you wanted just the head-2-head win

We could have always gone 3-2-1-0 system, where anyone winning 12-4 or better gets 3-0, and any other win is 2-1. Ties are home team advantage.

lol of course it couldn't have been perfect. Accidentally put in EDM's opponents for CGY's matchups, fixed now.
