I can think of a couple reasons:

-Trocheck is superior in every way h2h(Hischier can barely crack 50 with Hall on his wing for Christ's sake.
-Trocheck has one of the best contracts in the NHL and Hischier is due for a raise after the season.

I mean, both Hischiers 18 year old, and 19 year old seasons had better point per game than Trocheck put up last season. Trocheck has some pretty elite wingers to work with too. It's safe to assume hischiers point totals should continue to rise.

Not sure what any of that has to do with the facts here. Right now Trocheck is superior in every way possible and that is without a near ppg player regularly playing on his line in his career. Hoffman+Connoly might be the best regular linemates Trocheck has ever had and they still aren't Hall+Palmieri. Regardless, Hischier is due to get paid while Trocheck is locked in on a team friendly deal for a couple more years. Hischier may ultimately have a better career, but he is not better than Trocheck right now.

Well that’s bound to happen when you get hurt and are suppose to be out all season then come back ahead of schedule and try to help your team make the playoffs while not being 100%

The way this league proportionately values youth. It makes a piece like Hischier that much more valuable.

Talk trade with a lot of guys. The majority of the league is in a rebuilding mindset, youth is the premium, trocheck isn't old at 26 but the 20 year old 1st overall pick worth more to most in this league. Not arguing that mentality is necessarily right, but when only 10/31 guys are actually trying to win now it's the way it goes.
