Beat me too it. Absolutely pathetic dealmaking by Shero. Can't believe he got so little for a Hart trophy winner. Should have waited for the trade deadline and would have gotten a 1st, a 2nd and an elite prospect. Instead he got a 1st, a 3rd and a bag of pucks

It's a better return than what Carolina got for Skinner and they traded him before last season. It's basically a half-season rental. This looks like a deal by a team that knows they didn't stand a chance to re-sign him. Without knowing Colorado or St. Louis or Florida or Montreal offered, no idea if this was the best offer or not. The Devils might got a little extra since they retained half his cap hit.
