Wait and see for an NHL decision is basically the only option. Best case, albeit unlikely, is they resume regular season in a month or so.

Make the beginning of the schedule next season to look like our playoffs

So every team would be playing, but our playoffs would matchup to the first 3 weeks of the season as well. We could run regular season and playoffs at the same time.

How would you do that with vastly different rosters/schedules, etc.?

1. We could either modify the schedule to fit our playoffs, or we could run a schedule alongside the regular schedule where we keep tallies on this board for the stats. (Which wouldn't be hard)

2. As for rosters, we could do two things. We could just say those 8 teams can load up all they want during the off season and use the rosters they will be using next season OR we can keep tallies of the stats their current lineup players get during those weeks, even if said players aren't on their team next season. Just track stats. The only problem with this method is if players retire. Injuries happen though.

Personally would prefer a no champ than accruing stats from next season. But all debate is likely for nothing until we get a firm NHL decision.

That's my exact thoughts. Hard to come up with a contingency plan for us when we don't know theirs (the NHL). All we can do is halt operations until they resume theirs or until they lay out what they plan to do next.
