2019 57 d109 Carolina (from MIN) Marshall Warren Drafted by MIN in 2019 6th Rd (166th Overall)

by the way this looks like a mad reach but he's developing better than most mid rd prospects let alone among 6th rd selections =)) I'd take him at 2nd rd over again.

so are all my other selections like gritsyuk/afanasyev
Strome and a few others are meh. can't hit em all!

and shoalz, what are u on about dude
of course draft position in bbkl vs real life means jack shit in terms of evaluating bbkl gms ability to draft. this is why I "BRAGGED" with the way my small sample size of ONLY MID/LATE RD + measly waiver picks turned out in the past.
ZAR...Jooris...Stecher... all from waiver draft? thats not luck lol. Watching prospects growth.

it's all about what your prospect BECOMES/how successful of a trajectory and journey to the nhl + how impactful he is in NHL/FANTASY H2H in the end. who cares about how close/far the real NHL came to pick your guy??

btw want more 3rds

Considering we draft before the NHL does...we're picking players on potential alone. We don't know which organization they're joining and what role they'll play within said organization. I fully expect our later rounds to look completely different than the real draft. We can probably project that most of our 1st and 2nd rounders will be drafted in the first few rounds of the NHL draft because we're picking better-known prospects. But what does that matter really?

If Prospect X is drafted in the 1st round and Prospect Y is drafted in the 4th round. Both guys eventually make the NHL but Prospect X becomes a career 3rd liner and Prospect Y is a steady stay-at-home defenseman that plays on the first pairing...which pick is better? To me, both players turned into pros so I think I'd call that a win-win. Neither guy is a superstar but they're steady pros.

I'll point to a couple Red Wing examples:

Kirk Maltby scored 91 points for Owen Sound in his draft year and went in the 2nd round to the Oilers but made a great career as a checker/PK ace with the Red Wings.

Darren Helm had two higher scoring years for Medicine Hat but has been a career bottom 6 forward in Detroit. Helm was a 5th round pick.

Both Maltby and Helm had seasons over 30 points in the NHL but they've made careers for themselves primarily as role players. Are these bad draft picks or are they just players who could score in junior but that doesn't always translate in the NHL but found their way in the pros with their work ethic or in Helm's case, he could skate.

If we draft players with offensive upside but the player becomes a defensive forward, wouldn't we be happy that the player turned into a pro regardless?

x means your draft picks weren't drafted
D means you picked the player higher than they went in the NHL

My fault for having opinions. I’ll be like everyone else. Guhle went 16 therefore he is good because NHL teams are operated with 0 faults.
