There is plenty of support to increase the draft eligible age to 19. This would be the time to do it if that were to happen. Is it likely? Probably not. Would it be difficult and likely very weird? Absolutely. But, now would be the time.
Teams who suck at drafting would surely love to see the draft age pushed back to 19. I for one think it’s silly.
this.
Every team sucks at drafting until they hit it good, then they are experts. There aren't that many teams who have shown the ability to stay competitive forever, not in the cap era anyways.
history is full of teams that sucked at drafting way more than others and paid for it for years.

Also, if they are ever going to move the draft age, they will only do that for 2nd round onward imo. i.e. you would be able to draft 1st time eligible players only in the 1st round.
Otherwise, imagine a guy like McDavid having to wait till 19 to play in the NHL. Would make no sense for either party.

I know there was talk about moving the CHL draft back a year which would make some sense. The average 16 year old CHLer is way in over their head that first season.

It really comes down to the individual. If you put yourself in a place where it can be easily transmitted, that's your fault. Lockdown or not, irresponsibility is a choice.

I'm sure in the larger metropolitan areas where all these teams are located the numbers are higher. In Michigan, we're back down the numbers where we were in the middle of the summer. The virus isn't gone but it's at least back to being manageable. There's less cases but you can still get it if you're careless with your behavior.

One case has popped up on Canadian teams since this started. How many for the American teams? How many postponements are we up to now? It’s pathetic that the American teams can’t get their shit together

That’s all I’m saying.
