This was the attitude of Vegas he drafted and traded for productive vets and have you seen that team now. Sure you can have a few Malkin types but my point was Matthews 100+M team would result in him having to trade a bunch of assets with no market so he’d be better off with a cheaper more valuable asset. We have seen lots of cheap productive players go for a lot more than the Malkin, Getzlaf, Lee, Subban, etc. types

Was the list of available players as sexy as this one?

That is 100% a playoff team with a few additions and depth. Dam. Teams better be paying up for protection on some of those stud forwards. I don't understand Malkin being exposed though. I mean Archibald and Lazar over Malkin? Shoalzie makes some truly horrible decisions.
Should probably look at the options for each team. The other options from Anaheim aren't great, so I imagine Lee is in consideration. And FWIW, I own Malkin and not Scott.
Thanks for correcting me. Forgot about that trade. Shame on me for jumping the gun and blasting without researching. However I don't see Getz protected so that trade still looks bad.

Also weird that you would not protect Malkin. Guess we'lll see what deals you made on the side. Simply leaving him to be picked makes no sense to me.
Have you seen my forwards? Haha.
Not that impressive that you can afford to lose Malkin

Malkin isn't even the most valuable fwd I exposed. You're getting hung up on name value.

Definitely some very curious protection decisions though. The two most puzzling being NJ exposing Robert Thomas over the likes of Marcus Foligno or Barclay Goodrow. And NYR going 8 skaters to protect the likes of Nutivaara, Cale Fleury, and Logan Stanley to expose Drouin.

I took a bit of a risk moving Malkin before this season but it would've been tough to get the same return for him coming off the year he ended up having. His health has been a ticking time bomb.

Nobody is leaving a player exposed without reason. Some of it is age. Some of it is the fact the asset is decreasing in value. Some of it is you can only have so few guys protected.

For teams with a lot of good players made available...they will only lose one of them. I guess that's the bright side of it.

Not Drouin is all that valuable. I think you are getting caught up in name value here.

He's certainly more valuable than the 3 defenders he protected. There is a huge drop off in value between Drouin and Nutivaara etc. Drouin is at least an NHL caliber player. The 3 defenders he chose to protect to go the 8 skater route? Debatable.

Casper is over here talking about Drouins trade value like he’s owned him and shopped him the last couple years like I have lmao.

As a BBKL player, drouin doesn’t bring much.

Nutivaara has shown some solid promise and only just turned 27. Fleury I expect to eventually make the nhl full time while bringing North of 200hits and 100bs a years

Casper also throwing shade on Logan Stanley’s name meanwhile he tried pretty hard to acquire him before expansion deadline lmao. Stanley is 6 foot 7 and just had a fantastic rookie season and outstanding playoffs. But yah, leaviing drouin and his 50-55 points, mostly assists, exposed is the head scratcher lol

At least you keep it entertaining if nothing else

It'a not like I offered anything spectacular for Stanley, so relax with the aggressive tone. I see you drank the Steve kool-aid hard though on Fleury and Stanley.

Honest question…

Why so high on drouin Casper? He doesn’t shoot the puck at a high volume, doesn’t score that much. he’s pretty much only good for assists, stpts and points. He’s also starting to get a bit older. At this point, he is what he has been. I think the guys I protected at least have some upside and are younger. Defence is also my weakest point. Rather protect the guys there. Drouin is going to get pushed down my lineup very fast pretty soon…

The aggressive tone? Lol

If you’re going to have opinions on everything you should get some thicker skin.

You offered me an awful offer of hagg for Stanley and then tried to sell me that Stanley’s upside is hagg lol. You went after Stanley harder than ppl might think based on your comments in here.

Ok just reviewed the draft Vegas had. He didn't have half the great players available to him. This Vegas team should easily be able to walk away with a playoff team with only minor additions required.

I'm currently putting the finishing touches on my team, it isn't too late to ask me nicely (and throw assets at me) to not take someone you have left exposed.

If there is an exposed player you are interested in, make sure to come talk to me soon to figure out if we can get a deal done to find him a new home post-draft.

I've got a lot going on IRL right now so the sooner you reach out, the more likely I am to get back to you before it's too late.

Well, pending any last second deals today or tomorrow, I've got most of my team locked in. I may start the draft late tomorrow with a couple of selections if nothing crops up today or tomorrow morning.

Bit of an update, don't expect the selections to start till tomorrow morning as originally planned. A couple last minute negotiations kicked up and I'd like to settle those before locking in my picks. But tomorrow morning, it's on! Like late morning though, I got a thing first.
