You know a BBKL season has started when the Rangers are spamming the league with daily trade block bumps.

Having four injured players in my lineup this week isn't helping.

Part of me wants to dismiss the fact we've played just 3 weeks (10 total matchups) but I look at the standings and it seems like a pretty accurate show of who are the top teams and who isn't. I think there's some teams having slow starts...Toronto and Anaheim are lower in the standings than I would expect.

2/3 of the league I'd consider to be good-to-great. The bottom 1/3 of the league is just that. Other than Toronto, I don't think anyone living in the bottom third is going to magically become a playoff team. Teams that lose a lot of matchups just don't magically flip a switch and change form unless they had a star player sitting out with injury or something. You really can't hide flaws and luck into wins in a head-to-head format.

The one thing I'll say about trying to compete a playoff spot with a team that probably wasn't good enough for a few years...you kind of need to know where you stand within the league and don't overreach and screw up your long-term future. A couple years of missing (and missing by a lot) makes you reevaluate your group. One thing that has made making the playoffs difficult is getting off to bad starts and I've had a team that is more likely to have bad weeks than to have winning weeks. I was more likely to go 2-2/1-3/0-4 in matchups than go 4-0 and make up a lot of ground.

I'm not sure how much Toronto is going to climb without making some moves. That roster lacks depth and has some holes in the lineup.

I expected to be higher, but currently sitting in 20th place, it makes me wonder if I can actually compete. Sure, I may be able to get into the playoffs, but can I actually do some damage again? Considering trading next year's first to shore up a bit, but if that ends up a 10-15 pick I think I'll look dumb.

Is the Leafs GM even around? Not a single post since taking over... Quite the fall from grace that franchise has seen in the past few years.

Andrew did his part in getting the roster down to 90 players and he's been using a cap compliant lineup since he took over.

We anticipate him being in a more active role when things get sorted out. Obviously Mike is the closest to the situation so he can share when he feels comfortable sharing.

Hey fellas!

First of all, my apologies for being late to the game. Unfortunately joining the league corresponded with life getting a bit frantic. Things have since settled down so now I can begin better understanding how this league works! Looking forward to it. I'm a big fan of fantasy hockey - though I can't say I've ever been part of a league with this level of depth, so there may be a bit of a learning curve. Look forward to wheeling and dealing - because as someone already pointed out, I have some studs but not much depth - kind of like the Leafs of real life. Will spend some time perusing this board and see what I've missed.

First question: I can't seem to reply to any personal messages - I see that I have missed a few. When I go to compose message, it says I do not have the ability to do this (I must be more active it states - which isn't wrong). Any help is appreciated.

I'll check it out, Andrew. Glad to see you here.
