watching scott work from an outsider's perspective is fascinating.

step 1: trade bench player for several assets
step 2: use several assets to land a big "name"
step 3: trade the "name" for someone who actually helps you win in this league

I would bet any amount of money that Scott turns around and flips Bailey + O'Reilly for a top of the line fantasy star.

Ennis is new #1 Centre with Sabres

O'Reilly only really plays PK and has lost all of his PP time to Fleishmann

Actually Vanek is the #1 center in Buffalo at the moment, and Connolly is due back in a week or two. Regardless, the lines are going to be shuffled so much between now and the end of the season, so even if Ennis were the #1 center (which I doubt because of his size and defensive alone) it wouldn't be permanent. I'm not a big fan of this deal, Ennis scores more than O'Reilly, but that's it, and frankly he doesn't score enough to warrant the switch.

I don't know....O'Reilly really hasn't done much since the Fleichmann deal....i use to be super high on O'Reilly.....but honestly, since they brough Fleichmann in...and with Mueller returning soon i was worried his playing time would only continue to decrease....

O'Reilly makes a living off shutting down the oppositions best players, taking draws and killing penalties, neither Flash or Mueller (offensive wingers) jeopardize his playing time. Furthermore, Flash never stole any pp time from O'Reilly, he was always a 2nd/3rd unit guy, but the injuries to Hejduk and Stewart (among others) opened the door for him to take a few more shifts on the pp.

Time will tell

I think i made a good deal, but we'll see....I think Ennis is a small but very effective player.

In that sense, you may be right, but on the flip side you may have dealt Scott the asset he needs to complete an even bigger deal, we shall see I suppose.

with roy gone.. i think it's either connolly or ennis .. but ennis needs to train to be a good centre, but he's definitely a potential top line winger (if he isn't already in THIS team).. in past few games (i dont' know why) he's been hitting more and getting more shots on net... he's just started so who knows his defense might become better in the future.. but definitely he's all on scoring and i think in buff he will have his chance to shine.

It is very difficult for a 5'8 center to flourish in the #1 spot, as a rookie it's near impossible. The oppositions top pivots would eat him alive on a nightly basis.

o'reilly is actually very overrated imo. all he does is take faceoffs and kill penalties and i can list about 20-30 centers who do thegsame. the problem is don cherry talks about him so people have a higher opinion of him lol.

btw i think a package of bailey + ennis > bailey + o'reilly, kareem. i think everyone in the league knows that. o'reilly's upside may be a few more points but not much more. meanwhile ennis can be a force in a top 6 role as well=as on the PP.

i think steve won this for sure.

I completely disagree, O'Reilly is a very high upside player in my mind. His hockey IQ and defensive awareness are absolutely elite for a 19 year old center. The kid has offensive potential, and was selected #1 overall in the OHL Entry Draft for that very reason, his biggest obstacle is skating and Colorado's depth, but in time he too will make the leap, if not in the lineup than in ice time, as a H2H player there is no telling how much shtoi, fow, hits and bs he can achieve going forward, but I would wager it is alot. Ennis by contrast is what he is, a diminutive winger who can score, players like that are a dime a dozen.

P.S. O'Reilly's hype has absolutely nothing to do with Don Cherry, it's because he was selected 1st overall way back when in the OHL priorty selection, and because he absolutely dominated the 2009 U18 from a defensive standpoint.
