Re: GDT - Week 14
I remember when everyone made fun of Francis for his expansion draft.

Re: GDT - Week 14
Their roster construction isn't too much different from Vegas...their roster is full of castoffs from other teams. That's basically how every expansion team starts off.
How they've handled Wright...it's been a bit clunky and awkward. Beniers has been tremendous. Down the road those two will be the stars of the team but right now, they've got a pretty good mix of veterans and where do you fit Wright into this lineup and do you upset a winning formula?
What can definitely be said about the Kraken, they're getting immediate returns in the draft. How many "homegrown" players are in the Vegas lineup? The Kraken's first ever pick was Beniers and that guy will be a cornerstone piece for them and he's helping them in his first full season.
Francis is probably a little more shrewd than McPhee in that he won't chase high price talent and mortgage the future. The Kraken are in very good shape against the cap so far. Dunn might be the best player in need of a new deal after this season. They can't have every player under $6 million...guys will be due a raise eventually.

...and they became the first NHL team to ever sweep a 7-game road trip.
