As Tyutin has heated up, so have the offers recently. I wouldn't say I'm looking to move him, but I'm willing to listen.

For sure . I've turned the assets that I originally received for that pick into 4 times the worth. I went from losing series 12-0 to beating det and coming close to winning my last 2 matchups and I'm no longer in last place.

Very good chance that all of Avery, Kopecky and Cammalleri move before today's lock.

So, you traded the first overall pick so you wouldn't finish last but you're still going to finish no better than 29th. To me, I don't think it was worth it. Going into next year, you'll have an okay team...not a playoff team but you're better than what you were going into this year. When you trade that pick, you pretty had to improve dramatically and all you did was go up by one spot...and it's not like you're not at risk of falling back into last place if you're going to trade away pieces that helped you slowly crawl from last place. Trading it during the season just doesn't seem like the time if you're destined to finish near the bottom regardless. Whether you finished 30th or 29th...you still would've had a high pick and it woud've been something you could've gotten a lot more in return in the offseason when teams are more liberal with trading their better pieces.

I forget when you joined us but you'd be amazed at how many teams are willing to move stuff they wouldn't move during the season. Contending teams won't trade you something that is helping them win during the season but during the summer, (almost) everything is fair game. To me, you took a major risk doing that trade when you did and all it got you was out of last place. You're better now than you were then before the season but I think most of us think you shouldn't have traded that pick. When you're going to finish near the bottom, there's no sense in trying to be cute or clever unless you make a truly impactful move.

Different strokes I guess...I wish you luck, man!

1 very good prospect and a shit team VS a team that competes every week, stole points and had the potential to make the play-offs... I'm well aware that I MIGHT have been able to get more had I waited, but I had no assets to flip in the meantime. I'd rather build over time than hold onto one pick and hope that he pans out. I was the absolute worst team when I took over... I'm not now.

Yup, Shoalzie makes some great posts and he does bring up some very valid points. I firmly believe that I am better for trading that pick and making the moves that I have made as a result.

Yeah, that's fair and by no means is it a fact which move was right. More of a wait and see thing.

How is Tyutin worth THAT much more than Avery?

There's a reason why everyone wants dmen, and no one wants to trade the good ones. Nelson was a first rounder who fell a bit in the draft (didn't see you offering Galiev, Pulkkinen or powderpuff ;)) and Henrique is having a solid year in the Devils farm system. Dmen do cost more. Just like goalies
