I don't think you are crazy for valuing this moment over the olympics or SC, for one thing, cricket is a bigger sport internationally, two it hasn't happened in over 27 years, Canada winning gold is nowhere near as prized given how many times they have won.
One thing I will say, it is cool that they won one for Tendulkar, I don't know a ton about cricket, but he is one guy I do know about, and aside from the WC he had every accolade imaginable, was a very cool ending to say the least. I really liked the way one of the Indian players put it after the game, "Sachin has carried the weight of this country for years, so we thought we would carry him on ours (shoulders)."

Re: Tendulkar
yeah man. i grew up watching Tendulkar. my biggest hero in sports and no one even comes close. i know you didnt see the game but being indian im sure you know how much weight India puts on Sachin. like yesterday when Tendulkar got out, the entire stadium went silent - heck i bet 1.6b people on the planet went silent. theres so much hope and faith put into him. as a nations focus i dont think there is an athlete out there that has ever taken on as much as Tendulkar. so yeah i couldn't stop screaming when they won lol. and yeah that quote that they said about carrying Sachin on their shoulders was so befitting, almost folklore really.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONShiv...I had good friends in tears after the match...I get it, LOL.SuperMario wroteCOLONyesterday was wild man. lol all of brampton/mississauga was going crazy.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONHalf my family is Indian, as are alot of my friends so even though I don't watch cricket I was well aware of the outcome. Re: Tendulkar
It's funny, because the fan sentiments prior to the match were to get a win for Tendulkar first, and India second. Not often you hear that in sports.
