GMs that are putting names out there would actually like to be able to use them.
I also don't buy the argument that Banners = lesser creativity/skill. You are given an empty space. The challenge is to fill it as best as you can and compare. And there is a skill involved in filling that empty space.
This isn't a real graphic design contest shep. This is one for the fun of bbkl. if its just for the designers that would be stupid. and people in this league would want something they can use. i would love to have a contest to see who can make the best Taylor Hall banner in a lightning jersey. I see no point in having a graphic design contest where GMs cannot use the final product. There are plenty of places on the internet where one can find such contests. The ability of BBKL GMs to use the final product is key to the contest. Proof of that is in this thread alone. When the discussion first started, you had Kareem, Scott etc throw names out for players from their teams that they wanted banners for. Interest was high. As soon as the topic of wallpaper was suggested, interest dropped because no one gives a shit about who can make the best wallpaper. They'll come. They'll see it. If they like it they'll use it on their desktop. But the contest itself won't generate any excitement. This I agree with. I think we should choose different teams. I.e. Canucks or Nashville or Toronto etc. Teams that never really get designs made for them.
