Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
I agree, but I wouldn't anoint Weber the best defenceman in the game, that title belongs to Zdeno Chara and Chris Pronger, IMO.shooker wroteCOLONhe was the best dman in the league this year imo. I love lidstrom and feel he is top 3 all time but he did not deserve it this year. Weber could also have been an MVP candidate for how much he meant to that team. He deserves that coin for sure.
Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Chara probably. Until prongs gets back to form/healthy he cant be considered in that group. I also feel lidstrom has to still be considered top 3 even as a 40 year old he is still pretty effing good.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI agree, but I wouldn't anoint Weber the best defenceman in the game, that title belongs to Zdeno Chara and Chris Pronger, IMO.shooker wroteCOLONhe was the best dman in the league this year imo. Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
As of next year, Shea Weber will have accrued 7 seasons in the NHL, and thus subject to UFA (despite turning 27 after June 30)...How crazy would it be if Parise and Weber hit UFA on July 1st, 2012? The bidding war for those two will be insane, potentially as early as March 1st, 2012 (TDD).

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
2012 is a bit insane but 2013 could be a full retard offseason. Crosby, Jord Staal, Getzlaf, Perry, Roy, Clowe and Zajac just to name a few guys that could hit unrestricted.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONAs of next year, Shea Weber will have accrued 7 seasons in the NHL, and thus subject to UFA (despite turning 27 after June 30)...How crazy would it be if Parise and Weber hit UFA on July 1st, 2012? super happy about sharp signing an extension btw. One less rumour of a player going to the leafs I'll have to listen to.

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Fuck me, Weber is 2013 eligible, apparently the 30 games he played in his rookie season don't count toward the total 7 seasons. Oh well, 2013 just got that much stupider.
Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
Weber did say today that this 1 year deal is nothing more then a hold over and chance to work out a proper deal... Gotta kinda sting to be the Captian and franchise, yet they offer less then 5.
Billy what does it matter that he's not a UFA?

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
player who is a ufa will generally make more, than a player who is an rfa.
Weber is a beast but 7.5M is a lot.

7.5 is the going rate for elite defenceman. With the cap continually increasing it is not as restrictive as it was say 4-5 years ago. However Nashville works on an internal budget, so who knows.bills09 wroteCOLONplayer who is a ufa will generally make more, than a player who is an rfa.

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
The last offer from Nashville was a
Cap hit of 4.537M or some bs.
Billy - the highest 5 players in the league all signed well RFA (ovi, Malkin, Sid,staal and Nash)... Franchise guys get paid....
Ufa weber takes max, especially on a 1 year deal, entering his prime.

Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
They put in that offer to try and get the arbitrator to make the cap hit closer to 6mil as opposed to Weber's submitted 8mil.
Clearly it didn't work.

Nashville can not walk away from the offer as the team took Weber to arbitration.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLON7.5 is the going rate for elite defenceman. Re: NHL Transactions - Injuries and More Injuries
I don't really see anything special when they do shit like this. It's pretty routine. What don't you understand?
NZ: kk I played my hardest to be the koolest in the NHL but nobody recognize me. U gonna sign me?
NHL: nah
NZ: ya fuck this shit, you guys should give me money, lots of it
KHL: lolz hai there! we give u monies for shitty players like you
NZ: cool starry bra, ez
