It's a terrific trade for both guys. I think Shiv was dealing for fun. Fantastic deal all-around. Really tried to get into the Toews sweepstakes with Vinny so I could get something younger back.

Ah well. Good job, boys.

sgupca wroteCOLONI don't think Lupul will even start the year on the top line. Having 3 right handed shots is like trying to jerk off with the hand you cut all your fingers off.

It just doesn't work.

MacA - Connolly - Thrill
Sure it does...Lupul - Bozak - Kessel are all right handed shots, and they worked well towards the end of the season. So too are Perry - Getzlaf - Ryan, it's not as rare as some think.

All lefty lines are fairly common as well.

Including

Loui eriksson - ribby - b.rich - Benn - morrow, james neal... All lefty iirc

Thornton, heaters, marleau.

I regularly play on a line with all lefties, all it takes is a winger who plays his off wing.

I think when it comes to righty vs. lefty, it's a matter of how good the centre is at dishing the puck. If he's a strong/excellent play-maker, having two right-handed shooters can cross the goaltender up, especially since Kessel's a very underrated passer himself. Most goaltenders use their left-hand to catch, so setting up on Kessel's side with that weapon of a shot can backfire with Lupul on the left.

It's actually impressive how often Kessel scores on the glove side.

If Connolly can stay healthy all year, this could be the year Phil breaks 50. Seriously. Also, if he can stay motivated and not get down and in mental slump or have the coach be on him like the retard he is. Still can't stand Wilson.

Ok you Leaf loving losers need to stop hijacking my Habs trade thread...except you Kyle you can stay...at least you're a rung up on the intelligence ladder picking the Bruins. Leafs can DIE.

It's going to take way more than Connolly to help Kessel net 50 (IMO), but he should help him reach the 40 goal mark for sure.

Well Connolly is very similar(not quite as good though) in skillset to Savard, imo. Kessel had 36 that last year with Savvy. He is that much further along in development. If the Bruisn can win the cup it is time for the Leafs to break out of the old stigma and be a scary team to play against. I am actually hoping to see that this year. It is amazing what a cup will do to you. I want to see the Maple Leafs be awesome this year, seriously. Its no fun watching them finish 9th anymore. That team needs a big year. Its good for hockey in general.
