I love it for Shep...Kopitar and Staal are a wash moving forward, especially when you take cap into consideration. When healthy Andrei Markov is so much better than JJ that it is stupid (real life, and h2h), and I believe Gormley will more than make up for the loss of Grabner moving forward. The real loser here is Billy, IMO.

Even without Anton getting Grabner (who I think is the most overrated player in hockey), it's still rape.

JJ + Staal + Hornqvist for Kopitar + Prospal + Markov + Ladd is rape for Anton...?

I think everyone is greatly exaggerating what Anton got vs what he gave up.

JJ is overrated, and because of his injury history the last two seasons Markov is severely underrated.

Markov is always injured. At some point, people are going to have to admit that one fluke injury is a fluke, while two is a concern. It doesn't help that he's missed an inordinate number of games the last few years as well - any game missed is missed development, and possibly a regression.

From Kopitar to Staal: Anton wins
From Markov to Johnson: Anton wins
From Prospal to Grabner: Anton wins
From Ladd to Hornqvist: Billy wins

Two freak injuries isn't a concern.

Kopitar is better than Staal.

and it's Propsal + Gormley for Grabner.

But I digress.

Missed development? He is 32...The Habs obviously felt good enough about his game to sign him to a big three year extension, I will take their confidence in his game over yours. Also I have no idea how you composed that list, JJ over Markov is an absolute travesty, and your comparison of Kopitar to Staal is oversimplified with no consideration given to cap, improved linemates and age.

Healthy JJ > Injured Markov

Staal has had a frigging revolving door of wingers. He now has Skinner, and possibly Stewart, Jokinen, and/or Ruutu now. It's not like his wingers are terrible relative to the Kings.

Why don't you wait until Markov get's injured again before you label him as "injured."

As for Staal, as much as I like Stewart, he is nothing compared to: Brown/Williams/Penner, I would even add Loktionov to that list, Jokinen is underrated though. Even still, it isn't enough to elevate his point production much more than ppg. The current LAK roster could see Kopitar touch the century mark.

I would actually break it down as:

Staal = Kopitar
JJ > Markov (even if healthy JJ is the better asset to own going forward due to cap, age etc)
Hornqvist > Prospal
Grabner vs Ladd is a toss up imo. Grabner is a legit threat to hit 40 goals one day. Maybe not this year but next year is possible.
