Re: Your breakout players for upcoming season?
Which reminds me, Erik Johnson. Keep an eye on him. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Tyler Seguin to hit 50-60 points. Cody Hodgson is another potential breakout player (You're welcome, Bill). Dmitri Kulikov will be fun to follow as well - you can see the two-way potential and the top-pairing upside, but he's been surrounded by an awful team.
And of course, David Bolland, Michael Frolik, Bryan Bickell, Nick Leddy are threats to break out as well.

EJ is a pretty obvious one...That's like saying keep your eye on TJ Oshie.

I'm just fucking with you, EJ is a perfectly valid breakout candidate.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONI dunno, some people think what you see is what you get with EJ.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONEJ is a pretty obvious one...That's like saying keep your eye on TJ Oshie.
Re: Your breakout players for upcoming season?
I personally think he better break out this season or people will start throwing around that B word. Fine dman as of now but hasnt scratched what his potential was.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONI dunno, some people think what you see is what you get with EJ.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONEJ is a pretty obvious one...That's like saying keep your eye on TJ Oshie.
Re: Your breakout players for upcoming season?
If i have to talk about NHL breakout only, i go with rookies Andrei Loktionov and Marco Scandella.
Bonino might also belongs here as i expect him to bring some contribution whereas last season couldn't put anything on the scoreboard (could only hit posts).
I would expect Petersson and Nyquist to break out, but at the AHL level.

Re: Your breakout players for upcoming season?
I have a bunch of players who I am hoping have rebound/breakout years. Aside from a few players like Sedin, I have been slowly rebuilding my team with players who either had/have little value (who I happen to like) or players who had a down year(s) recently. This basic rebuilding plan of buy low, sell high is a risky one but hopefully it pays off. Phase 1 is basically complete, and now I wait and see how my guys preform at the start of the season. The next phase of my rebuild all really depends on how my team preforms. More that likely I will continue to slowly get better, with the goal of being a top team for the 2012/13 season. If things go for a complete shit job, I will take a good look at who has good value and make some smart trade where I could load up on players/prospects who are on the verge of making it/breaking out. Anyway my team is full of low value guys with potential to surprise, but here are a few players I am expecting big things from
Paul Stastny - Has big years in the past, and really counting on him have a big one
Ville Leino - I just like this guy, and I expect big things in Buffalo
JVR, Campbell & Upshall - These guys should all get top line minutes

You cant say nothing bout Seguin. Remember how strongly opinionated you were that Seguin would be a bust pick. Now you are expecting breakout and wont trade him. Come on Guptil.sgupca wroteCOLONFrolik

Quick List:
-Cody Hodgson
-Jan Mursak
-Nino Niederriter
-Time Erixon
Somewhat
-Matt Fraser- he won't be making much noise on the NHL level, but will establish himself in the AHL making solid strides to NHL.

Re: Your breakout players for upcoming season?
I'd like to see the Edmonton goaltending improve. They've got a much better group of defensemen in front of them plus they bring in some solid veteran forwards to balance the youth. I don't think the Oilers will be a playoff team but they won't be vying for the 1st pick in the draft either. For the long-term health of my team, I hope Dubnyk is the guy that takes that starting job from Khabibulin during the season and can be their main guy for the near future. Bulin doesn't have a lot of value after his contract expires and if Dubnyk flames out, I'm in a lot of trouble in net.
