Honestly, most of these rape first deal by the new guy effect is all due to the fact that they're pressured by the existing GM's. Don't even deny it because you know you want that piece from them and you will say whatever meets BBKL-term and standard to justify your reasoning as to why they're "getting a good deal". I've been there, done that, and been around just long enough now to see the same mistake the new GM's make. Hell, I even tried to pry 2012 1st (CAR) off of foolama back when he joined the league, telling him how 1st CAR +SJ Tandem for Miller would be an awesome deal for him because I won't be dead last this season or something like that.

Nothing personal, but I'm pretty sure Chris (VAN) is the culprit here that applied the "pressure" on tunic to make this happen. WHen 3 ways are happening especially, the adrenaline pumps up, and nothing but "I'm gonna impress these guys with this first trade" lingers around new GM's minds. He wanted Nino, had some other talks with a few GM's, the new guy can be manipulatd using "this guy produces H2H"/"these guys give you value"/"you won't get a deal like this anywhere" -esque reasoning to get him.

Errr... well, while I did approach him, I told him several times to not commit to anything and continue looking at other offers. In fact, I told him I WISH I had not committed to other offers in the past, but did them anyway because I felt obligated to. He turned down that offer until I thought about Matt and the fact that he wanted to move Armstromg. Fact is, I know he was looking to put the stamp on his team, and I know he didn't like Nino. That's fine. I gave up A LOT. None on Nino's level for upside, but seeing the other offers made, I am NOT the bad guy here. The bad guys are the ones who made a weak offer and tried to push it as a fair deal. These guys know who they are.

I've been a trade buddy from time to time and my approach was always to listen to why my "student" wants to make a trade. Also, I'd want to know what the point of making the trade is, and I'd try and offer advice or insight on each player/piece involved as I saw it. I wouldn't just say yes or no to any deals. If a GM wanted to make a deal bad enough then who am I to stand in their way.. but I'd always make sure I got my message across and why or why I wouldn't make the deal, or if I'd ask for this instead or that to be added/subtracted, etc...

That is all I'm going to say on this matter.

Wow. this is literally awful to read. Many owners offered absolutely embarrassing deals and i do not believe in nino. I think he will bust for sure, its personal opinion but I didn't want him on my team. When i spoke to other owners everyone else said they had a better offer and none of them matched up. I got every piece I asked for in this deal and then some. If you are butthurt that you didnt end up with nino go offer that knock your socks off deal that you would have sent me to chris. i'm sure he'll enjoy the instant upgrade. you wanna call me an idiot? prove it and make a bigger deal yourself for him.
