With Staal in there MDZ would not have been given as much ice as he has. Where as Jake has played extremely well and earned a solid spot on a blueline where there is more talent. Wait till Staal comes back, MDZ will lose ice.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONBahahaha far better blue line?! WOW.
This has been a weird 10 days, Shiv and I have agreed on all sorts of things, Kareem is in first, the Bruins bullied a way to a win...
But seriously... Leafs blueline is notably better then the NYR group, especially with Staal out. From watching the games I really have never noticed MDZ (this year) and thought 'damn there's a future #1', however with Gardiner... definitely have had that thought just watching him skate, or make a cold-as-ice decision. Citing MDZ as the better h2h dman because he hits? How about blocked shots? I also doubt MDZ holds onto good pk-minutes when Marc returns, whereas Jake is just stepping into his...both will continue to be PP dman IMO.
Anyways, I don't believe anyone is saying >>> or <<<<<<<<<<<<<, so it's clearly a tight conversation. But Billy was offering 1:1 on a dman I like less then the one I got + ; Mike made it make-sense to lose the better damn for a rookie with a second piece coming this way. Quiet clearly the better deal for me.
