Goalie on the block.

Post by Lee »

Iiro Tarkki.

Played his first NHL game last night after Hiller got injured ( not sure to which extent). According to http://ducks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=610664:

The Ducks also placed goaltender Dan Ellis on injured reserve tonight. Ellis suffered a strained groin in practice yesterday and will be out at least four weeks.

Which means that he may be up for an extended stay, and if Hiller is out as well, Tarkki may be the starter for a bit.

Here's a blurb from the same site:

Tarkki, 26 (7/1/1985) (meaning waiver exempt in our league for another year) , posted a 9-11-1 record with one shutout, a 2.85 goals-against average (GAA) and .916 save percentage (SV%) in 23 games with Syracuse. At the time of his recall, Tarkki ranked fifth among AHL goaltenders in saves (672). He earned his first career win and shutout on Oct. 26 at Lake Erie, stopping all 25 shots faced in a 7-0 Syracuse victory. The 6-3, 185-pound goaltender recorded a season-high three-game winning streak from Nov. 18-25 with a 2.58 GAA (8 GA/186 MIN) and .934 SV% (113-of-121).

Not too picky on a return. I could use a winger. If not, picks/prospects would be nice.
