As usual, I agree completely Steve.sgupca wroteCOLONFranson imo is one of our best dmen. He's reliable, incredible shot, and like anton said he's one of the best at keeping the puck in the offensive zone.
Franson is far too underrated and schenn is far too overrated. I'm actually hoping we move Schenn while he still has some trade value.
Re: STL/VAN
I've been eating my words with Franson a lot this year too. I used to call him the softest big guy in Leafs history but I've been really enjoying his work in front of Gus the last little while. He puts guys on their asses.. and I think that's something I was really frustrated with when it came to him in the defensive zone. There's no doubt Cody Franson can help this team offensively.. but it's becoming more and more clear that he can help us defensively too. I'm turning in to a big Cody Franson fan with each passing game.

I fully admit to being dead wrong on that one, Franson is WORLDS better than I thought he was even a month ago. Ditto with Carl Gunnarsson.SuperMario wroteCOLONHey Kareem and Chris: http://bbkl.ca/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=583 ... ens#p74091

Coming from the guy who remarked that, "Leaf fans don't know what they really have in Luke Schenn." You've done your fair share of dreaming too buddy....Nick wroteCOLONBarf on Franson. Not our worst, not a problem... but you guys are dreaming.

Re: STL/VAN
Ideally neither are traded, but if I had the choice of choosing which one to keep it would be Franson. Schenn can be more easily replaced within our system than Franson, IMO.Chris wroteCOLONHeh. "HE CAN SHOOTZ PUCKS BETTAR THAN SCHRENN. TRADE SCENN."
Re: STL/VAN
Man, when are you people going to stop pretending that there's someone who can replace Schenn? It's getting ridiculous. Many -- not some -- would say that the Leafs lack of a shutdown defenseman before the lockout hurt their Cup chances. Looking at the bare numbers, Schenn's ESGA is the best on the team -- and he's been getting a steady diet of ES time against all kinds of competition, so don't assume that he's facing inferior competition either. Ridiculous. Getting sick of this.

So consistency is a standard that a 22-year old is being held to, but not a 24-year old. Re: STL/VAN
His ESGA stats don't mean alot given the minutes he has accrued this season. If Schenn were playing against the oppositions best units night in and night out like Dion Phaneuf and Carl Gunarrsson those numbers would be more meaningful.Chris wroteCOLONMan, when are you people going to stop pretending that there's someone who can replace Schenn? Phaneuf: 1.89
Gardiner: 2.13
Schenn: 2.28
Liles: 2.30
Aulie: 2.32
Komisarek: 2.55
Franson: 2.65
Nope. Schenn sucks. Herp. Derp.

Re: STL/VAN
Those stats mean nothing without context...Or is Schenn just playing third pairing minutes because Ron Wilson has something against him?

Re: STL/VAN
Schenn can't skate, and he looks like a fool running around with 2 hands on his stick - that also hurts his mobility.
Schenn has awesome stats, but those stats are deceiving, all you need to do is watch him play to realize he looks a lot better on paper than he does on the ice.

Re: STL/VAN
He plays the third-most ES time on the team. In fact, it's climbing. He also gets the most defensive zone sets than anyone else other than I think Komisarek, though I'd have to check it. He looks great on ES, fucking horrific on the PK.
