Post by MSP4LYFE »

I have heard conflicting reports, and would like to have record set straight. When is the 2012 BBKL Trade Deadline?

Does anyone have any concerns about the trade deadline?

There is some talk to move it up to the 19th - as realistically we currently have a 1 week no trade deadline.

IMO if it were to be changed it should of been done weeks a go.

well the discussion started with the 12th. so we immediately pushed it back a week, but there's nothing wrong with 10 days notice..

Having trouble associating to the realism of needing to make a decision before all variables are known? (As real NHL will be doing in the next 2 weeks).

Not that it matters.

? I haven't decided yet either, but what is your reasoning against the change? and as a proven member in the community your opinion does 100% matter.

given that the change is 11 days, 10 days notice isn't extreme. The change is only decreased decision making time in order to increase realism; only downside i've seen mentioned is the risk of a goalie injury or trade involving contenders at the real TDD -> which is something we'd need to clause for someway.

why bother with this league? that's not a logical reason.

Just dropping here the main reason why last year our deadline was moved after the NHL trade deadline:

it was pointed out that, otherwise, a NHL deadline trade involving goaltenders could completely screw a team's chances for the BBKL playoffs.. without leaving any room to the GM to cover for it.

Having the Trade Deadline on March 1st is absolutely horrific and was a terrible, terrible decision that was made. We might as well not even have a trade deadline and say Playoff teams cannot trade while still playing in the playoffs. It's the exact same thing, minus 4 days as our playoffs start March 5-11.

Fucking pointless.

this is obvious BS :)
I'll reply as i did in the CC board..
they can trade, but not anymore with the contending teams, hence without the real buyers.. so obviously having the deadline still make tons of difference.
so the actual timeframe you should count is 4 days + playoffs duration, not 4 days.

Btw, as you know last year i was the one against moving the dealine after the NHL one.. and i would favour moving it back a couple of weeks next year, but i can't see the necessity to change it this late, like something terrible would happen this year otherwise.

But it is 4 days. Non-payoff teams can trade 4 days after our season ends anyways.

My point is, why even have a trade deadline set if it's in the last week of our regular season? Might as well just make it "You can't trade if you are in the playoffs". It's basically the exact same thing.

I'm not a fan of the deadline being moved up either, for a couple of reasons.

1) Short notice.

2) Alot of things can happen prior to the playoffs (injuries, demotions, cold or hot play etc.), and the further the deadline is pushed back the longer teams have to adjust accordingly.

4) The CC already notified the league of a March 1st deadline.

5) A real life trade occurs after the deadline that decreases the effectiveness of one of your key players.
