Trade deadline - March 1st @ 9 PM EST

Post by Lee »

Trade deadline is March 1st @ 9 PM EST

Non play-off teams can make trades when our regular season ends.
Play-off teams cannot make trades or post trades to be processed until they are eliminated.

As far as I know, it's being looked into for next year. The 12th or 19th of Feb was discussed, but it was decided that there was not enough time given and that it should be addressed for the 12/13 season.

I know. It's stupid.

We're hoping to push it so it's 3-5 weeks before the end of our regular season.

However, the one issue that always comes up is what if your starting goalie goes down within the time after the deadline and the playoffs. You're fucked completely.

Believe me, I'm all for the person getting fucked.

Others, not so much.. Trade deadline should be AT LEAST 3 weeks before our season ends.

There's nothing wrong with the playoff format. Unless we are using more rounds, we cannot make our playoffs go into the NHL playoffs. It would essentially mean that players from the real NHL non playoff teams are essentially worthless in our playoff system.

So goaltenders only, or goaltenders as a part of the deal? Because that sounds like it can be circumvented.

Yeah, issue being who wants to trade an healthy tandem for an unhealthy/ shitty one? What about something like in case of an emergency the playoff team with the injured goalie is allowed to trade with the non-playoff teams? Something like that.

it's already being discussed in the CC and i think we reached a good solution, but once it was clear it would only be applied starting next year, the decision was apparently postponed, don't know why.

btw, it's hilarious the reaction this late deadline is creating after last year no one complained when it was brought up and approved as a result (you obviously are exempt from this point).

I really don't care about it either way, I'll just make my moves a week or two earlier if everybody decides it gets moved haha just offering a possible solution based on the wants of others.
