Interesting deal...I love Koivu as he's a proven young star, and an absolute stud in H2H. He is also a HUGE aquisition to an Isles team that is devoid of proven talent down the middle, but make no mistakes Steve recieved a lions share in return. Lars Eller is widely regarded as the top defensive forward (prospect) down the middle, and has the offensive potential to boot as well. Additionally, Steve acquired Drew Shore, he's a raw PF with the size and projectabilty to perhaps develop into a top 6 PF. You cannot discount Wandell either, he is coming off a lower body injury that ended his season in the final weeks, but prior to that he showcased a solid two way game, and speed and hands that could lead to a more prominent role on the Stars team in the future. Jesse Joensuu is a bust as far as I'm concerned, and I'm sure Nighthock doesnt mind letting him go.

Needless to say, very nice deal gentleman.

As far as the deal goes, I considered it Eller + Wandell for Koivu ... I agree about Joensuu and I have serious doubts about Shore. And of course I wanted some picks, albeit later rounds, and added a center with size that may be okay. I desperately needed someone down the middle ... Mitchell could not be my #1.

i like the deal as well, and as far as Joensuu goes i asked for him because Nick was pretty high on him. To be honest Nick put this whole trade together, i just proposed it.
