Toronto Maple Leafs Tank Thread
Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Tank Thread
nope. i hate the move. should've just waited and promoted eakins, but who knows.
perhaps carlyle takes a different approach to such a young team?

i also think burke is a bit of a dick for announcing this now and snatching the spotlight away from the BBKL playoffs, typical.

My concern with Eakins is that he is a rookie coach, and I'm not sure how a rookie would handle a market like Toronto.
Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Tank Thread
what an interesting predicament we are in:
if carlyle comes in and immediately rights the ship, we lose out on a high pick, but we have faith in a capable coach.
if he comes in and we continue to lose, we get our pick, but how fast do the fans turn on carlyle?

18 games is a short amount of time for a coach to implement a system, but it's possible he adds a motivating element to the dressing room that lights a fire under the team. I hope not, but it's a possibility.anton wroteCOLONwhat an interesting predicament we are in:

As for your second point, if anyone turns on Carlyle after 18 games, they are an idiot.

Re: Toronto Maple Leafs Tank Thread
I remember reading a stat a while back that suggested the impact of a new coach is rarely seen (in terms of wins) in the first month on the job.

It's true. In fact, the percentage is lower than .500 -- something around .460 or so.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONI remember reading a stat a while back that suggested the impact of a new coach is rarely seen (in terms of wins) in the first month on the job.
