Cap hits and bonus cushions?

Is there a clear explanation of this and what we in BBKL will be using? Like if a player has a hit of 1 million and has 700,000 in performance bonuses if he meets the requirements. that is what the bonus cushion is for. Is this getting too complicated? I know some people used these numbers last year while others used cap number. without included performance bonus'

Can we come to an agreement on what exact site we will use as the bible for cap related info? Also are we included performance bonuses? Are we going to allow a bonus cushion on our team for that reason? It is a double edged sword. A player who has a bonus of say 1 mil on a 1 mil contract could have a cap hit of 2 mil in our league where in the NHL it would only be the case at the end of the season if he reached his targets. This is a bit tricky but we should look into it and kind of agree on something so we get it in writing for the rules section.

I am pretty sure we use the max cap hit and assume they hit all their bonuses.

We've always just used NHL Cap hit, thats the average of their salary + potential bonuses divided by the total # of years on a contract.... the details of the bonuses are rarely released in full detail, and we don't run an active cap.

I've always felt this under-values rookies, however the other option (just using their average salary) is equally as unrealistic.

I don't think this will change, but to be clear, if there is a vote about it I don't want to vote, it effects no team more then me.

We had no playoffs so its unfair to ahve implications that go past our season impact us.

Umm, Neel; we had playoffs... I believe we had a conn smyth vote as well... so I'm not aware of what your remembering? Selective memory for being the first round upset?

guys will 'NOT WANT' their player to win the conn smyth if it takes away from their cap space.
