if the jays can make the playoffs it will be worth it tho.

they should have tons of cash, i say they let bruhle walk and use that cash to resign price.

Jays are apparently still looking for pitching help. AA may not be done.

7 years 200+ mil is what you are looking at to resign Price. Like I said, good luck because a lot of teams are going to throw a boatload of cash at him. But to twist the knife a bit:

Norris+Alford is at least as good as Thompson+Williams+Alfaro which is what the Phillies got.

Hamels 3 yrs 67.5 mil remaining after this year with a 22.5 mil option
Harrison 2 years 26.4 mil with 13.2 mil team option 2 mil buyout
9.5 mil cash

=

Hamels 3 yrs 29.6 mil works out to 9.87 m aav Price at 200 mil over 7 = 28.5 m aav

Yeah...now you can call me an asshole lol!

Jays can afford it, give him 7 x 200 and make us happy.

Every team in the league is going to throw that at him. What makes you think he would choose the Jays over the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox, Cubs or any other number of high payroll teams? The Jays pretty much got fleeced. To put it in perspective, the Phillies kicked in enough cash in the Hamels deal that they are paying Hamels #5 starter money and can literally go out and get Price too while getting Darvish back next year lol!

Alford didn't get moved. Ya, its really tough to give up Norris for what may be a rental or a crazy contract. Excited to have Price but idk...

If that's true it seems more reasonable. Norris and filler should have been enough.

Yup looks official now. Norris+Labourt+Boyd for Price. That is far more reasonable imo.

WOOO! Flags fly forever who cares if we don't sign Price I want to cheer for a winning team that has a chance over the next few months rather than stand pat and hope prospects reach full potential.

Casper obviously isn't a Jays fan, but hard not to be excited if you are a fan. Norris has had a very disappointing year, has struggled to throw strikes and has questionable mechanics. At this point he is looking more like a bottom of the rotation arm rather than top, if they don't catch the Yanks being able to throw out Price for the wild card game greatly increases our chances. Bautista, Encarnacion, Dickey, Buehrle, Martin aren't getting any better and the AL is very winnable so going for it makes a ton of sense this year.

Hamels didn't want to come to the jays was what stopped that for sure. Agree huge risk with Price, but potential large reward and maybe they've got a head start on re-signing him? Who knows, but right now, these last two trades make the Jays a serious contender. RA and Beurhle have been solid. Estrada too. Hutch is fine as long as he's pitching in the dome and Price is arguably the best pitcher in the AL.

Not only will it help to get into the playoffs but if you do go into a WC game, you have the pitcher to win that game... and the offense to cover up any mishaps. Legit going to be an exciting fall for the first time that I can remember.

Control is an issue, but he also has 3 plus - plus plus pitches. Even slightly below average control and command he is a 3. Average and he is a 2. There are plenty of recent examples of guys with major control issue that figured it out recent. 3 in the Indians rotation alone lol! Carrasco, Bauer, and Salazar.
