cbs has oshie playing wing on its depth charts. so does yahoo:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/teams/stl/depthchart
It's a lose-lose, because both those sites have Oshie listed as a center on the front page, but if you want to use those depth charts, then you have to list Backes as a center...

So who is the centre Shiv?

The blues have no one playing that position?

Fak guys. Look past your own roster for 1 second and be honest. Is the guy a centre?

There should be no excuse for having more then 5 centres. Its 1 too many as it is LOL.

well if you use the depth charts, oshie is a winger. but cbs by itself lists backes as a winger. so i have proof that oshie is a winger, and i have cbs backing me on the fact that backes is a winger through their own positional eligibility.

You can't use contradicting evidence to support player eligibility, lol...

I watch St. Louis a lot and if I see Oshie playing C I will put him there. Period!

Backes position eligibility was modified in CBS. If you look at the NHL section of CBS he is a center as of right now. That will likely change based on the article Kareem posted.

why cant backes and oshie have dual eligibility? especially if they switch back and forth between center and wing.

No back up proof that's necessary..

well the proof is: if some games oshie is the center and others backes is the center. and the switch on the wing depending on the games.

Backes took more then 1000 faceoffs... thats called playing centre, dual eligibility is a joke. You would dress both as wingers... someone somewhere is a fucking centre a few of you guys are being complete jack-offs on this topic. You have you little exploitation area and are just working it. This will apply in the future as well guys, if Hall or Kane switch to full time centre like this I'll have to sort that shit out. Shook has Sharp who this directly reflects (though he might be the tipping point guy 1-way or another) and he's managing to look past his own two feet.

Some wingers do get to take some draws, Steve Ott is a prime example, I believe Backes will return to that (but that needs to happen before he's a winger again iMO). Seguin could become a winger*, this is not some evil idea, having players listed in their proper and fair position is a good thing!

I don't like labelling Backes a center before the season even starts...Especially since his coach went on record as stating he will be a full time winger this season. I much assigning players a position switch (W-->C) if they pass a certain FOW number (450 per season or 225 before the mid way point of the season).

I could not disagree more with that point of change...
-why even bother that late?
-how does being a good center-men make you more of a centre? (thats FOT vs FOW if your continuing to miss that point)
-why are you ignoring last years FOW/FOT ? so if he had 450 wins this season, but the coach again indicates he'd like him back on wing, is he a winger again going into next season ? (you've created a circle of no change)

I seriously cannot understand what's so hard to understand about this, if your player is a centre, he should be listed as such. The most recent stretch of games (30ish) sets the precedence,in that time your given notice that he's changing positional status... not some out of date site, not some brutal hindsight correction, not hearsay & rumours, actual play backed by #'s and game-reports/viewing.

Now, in a situation like Backes/Malkin/Oshie/Bailey where change is expected (first two back 2 wing, other 2 set to take over the centre spot) the change could be made sooner if the GM so wishes (no need to delay to allow for any positional issues that need to be taken care of because we don't control that).... or perhaps the accumulation of evidence decrease the time required for the change:

1 "major" site
1 weeks worth of stats
1 quote of the coach/player
+ having seen the game(s)

finding that tsn/nhl/team-site/db/hockeys future list some player as a centre is not 5 supporting sources, thats essentially 1-type of source, for the most accurate measure its best to take in all available data, iMO the best obviously being watching the damn game. But thats seriously frowned upon here thanks to our hf-board influence.

All the player bio pages are embarrassingly out of date, we're much more progressive hockey fans then to pretend those bios are valid for determining h2h positions or pretending a solid indicator of where a player lines up.

wait till a few games in and see if things change but as of right now, Oshie would be a winger and Backes would be a center. Simple.

From Haggs twitter

According to Peter Chiarelli, Marc Savard "suffering from symptoms of post-concussion syndrome" and he wont be out on ice/available to media

I posted in general hockey talk too, but this is more related to Shiv ;)
