Well had the D gone, then there would be some really good forwards for the later picks so it works out.

Perhaps. Depends on what you like. I personally prefer many of the D over the last few fowards that just went.

McGroarty was the last forward of my first round wish list. If he was gone by now, I think would've just stood pat and took the best available players at 24 and 39. I'm happier to get my guy here rather than cross my fingers and hope I end up with two guys I might like at those spots. Having multiple picks early just allows more flexibility and I'll still be able to snag someone later in the 2nd.

I figured the next tier of defensemen would start to come off the board soon...Korchinski being the first. I had a list of 5 defensemen after Nemec and Jiricek that could be available at 24 but I wouldn't have moved up for any of them. I would've taken the best name left on my board at that spot.
