I sometimes get "resource limit reached" or something like that, but can usually refresh.

Yeah, I was screwing around adding some links from elite prospects to my draft page and I was getting php and 401 errors and then the forums went dead for the night for me in my desktop.

Yeah, that happened to me when I'd put a lot of links in my posts and I'd get blocked. I stopped doing that with the draft.

If no one else is gonna say it then I will: mike this whole drafting a ton of goalies and then holding them random from their respective GMs is ridiculous and is starting to get out of hand. You're not the only one that does it but you're the most visible to point out because you do this every draft.
There are many of you that take advantage of the fact that goalies are needed for a system (be it draft, free agency, real nhl trades) and try to rape the gm that needs him. Guys either have to pay stupid prices or else you're SOL and can't complete your system.
I am against "nanny states" but the goalie system issue is starting to be a problem IMO. I know for a fact that there are many other GMs that feel this way as well.
I have no idea if or how we could address it but I seriously think we need look into the idea of something here...

No real solution to combat this, at least that I can think of. Only thing I have heard proposed is goalies become you own a teams goalies rather than individual players, but that is too hard to implement since too many systems are missing pieces and it isn't fair for GMs to lose their prospect goalies.

What about taking that idea and grandfathering it in then, that way existing assets will be not be affected.

It will only get more unfair as time goes on. Compensate teams with prospects that belong to other systems with draft picks that are similar to where they are drafted. It sucks and people will cry, but really, that's the alternative to what we are doing now, atleast until someone suggests a better solution. Maybe make all goaltenders moving forward part of a system? it would be hard as well with people owning split systems. Easy enough for me with MTL, but others have bits and pieces.

I think that takes a lot of the gm'ship out of fantasy leagues. How about I draft all the centers, and to combat it we say a team that owns a teams #1 centre owns that teams entire centre depth. If you would like to compete with mike, then start drafting goalies. Eventually goalies will be drafted earlier and earlier, as people realise how valuable drafting goaltenders in the league is, rather than expectig people hand over your top pale prospect for a 3rd.

Here's another idea off the top of my head:
You can draft any goalie you want but if that goalie isn't drafted into our own system then that systems owner can offer to pay you an equivalent round pick in the following years draft based on what round in the real nhl draft he was taken in.
If the systems owner doesn't want to pay for him within some kind of time frame then the drafter can keep him permanently.
That way systems are kept intact and value isn't lost by the drafting GM.

I'm fine with inheriting all future ANA goalie prospects, but how do you compensate for Hammond for example or how do you decide who has MIN when Matthew has Dubnyk and Josh has all the other Wild goalies or what about Mrazek is he the starter of DET now? Does Nick get him when I'm sure Josh planned on him being his future starter, just seems like a HUGE headache.
Grandfathering it in is more doable, but it still has issues when determining which GM owns each system when some are split. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I don't see it as that big of a deal and if ANA drafts a goalie in the 5th round I have zero desire to trade for him since I am comfortable with Gibson and Andersen moving forward. I do understand the issue though since I'd be annoyed if I owned an aging system and a GM was completely unreasonable in his demands for the prospect who is likely the future starter.

Centers are a pretty weak argument compared to goaltenders.

This I can get behind, but the compensation should be slightly higher since it's a year later. Something like next year's pick + a pick in the following round and maybe more for a 1st round goalie since if a goalie is drafted 8th overall a late 1st the following year wouldn't be fair compensation.

From personal experience over my 5+ years here I've made overpayment offers for system goalies and greedy GMs have told me they still wanted more.
At no time should GMs be forced to lose value to complete another's system but abusing that power and taking another GM to the cleaners for a 3rd or 4th string goalie in a system is ridiculous.
In the long run it will destroy parity in the league. Those that draft goalies will sit on them for 5+ years and then clean GMs clocks when they become system starters.
I'm not directing this at the reasonable GMs (I've dealt with plenty who are good about goalies) this is meant for the greedy ones who hold them random. Low balling GMs for systems are another issue entirely.

Given the lack of controls I agree. But I am proposing that we do in fact put a stop to it.
