we don't judge it after the fact. Because Khub had good # that week doesn't mean that dressing him at the time, and NOT dressing Ward, wasn't intended with all available information to win a few points as possible.
Mik has explained his decision on Darling. It's a little risky, but I can tell you that I wish I had used that theory last week when I dressed Howard and Mrazek -> and lost the week because of Mrazek;s stats.
Except in the case of Mik's you'd have sat Howard for Mrazek because he would have played the easier or more limited minutes, I still believe Lee is in the right here. The rule shouldn't change because of the playoff context.
Edit. Just to add, if Darling really presents the best lineup for Mik why is it he has been dressing Bob and or Mch and or Darling the last few weeks, its fairly hard for me to honestly believe that Mik is not trying to expose a loophole himself and believes that Darling represents the best and fairest lineup.
What possible reason does mik have to lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs when he has a strong team? To draft 22nd rather than 26th? If I was mik I would have strongly considered the same option. In fact, during the season when dubnyk was still on Arizona and only playing like 1/3 of Arizona games I began to start dubnyk and sit smith. The reason being that smith was providing 0 wins and dubnyk was actually giving me a shot at sv% and gaa. Bob plays some really tough teams this week and his stats are very meh this season. The chance mik can take that win category is extremely small, but with darling he has a good chance at sv perc and gaa.
I honestly don't see how this is so hard to realise. Intent of both parties (lee & mik) is so obvious.

not only CLB opponents were different, and not only I think Darling is safe to play at least a game this week coming off a great shutout (and with Chicago playing 4 games)... last week I was simply unable to fit Darling under the cap.
I think I even stated in the 1st round thread that I wanted to dress him last week already.

As far as games played, any input on how this works:
4-5 : Each team is required to have no more than eighty two (82) and no less than forty one (41) games played by their goaltender.
However, if you look at fantrax, some teams have already surpassed the 82 game mark, and other teams that are still in the playoffs are within a game or two of the 82 game mark.
I figure the reason some of those GP are so high is due to someone playing their system, so they will automatically get 82 games, but then 1 goalie gets pulled, so that GM receives 2 GP in 1 game.
The only significant actual violator is already out of the playoffs, but others still in the PO will pass in a couple games.
Is this just a rule that typically gets ignored?

Good point bringing up the other end of this Matthew. Definitely something that needs to be clarified, because without penalty for overages it could encourage starter hoarding. But personally I see 82 as slightly too strict of a cap to start handing out any sort of significant penalty

as said repeatedly, we currently don't have any updated and complete version of a CBA.
I don't know if besides that quote it says somewhere the counter refers to starts only, but I'm positive that's what we have been doing.

I find it strange that a league that has been operating for 5 years doesn't have an updated rules thread.

more than 5 yrs I think, and yes it is.
The problem is that on top of being strange it leads to face and discuss over and over the same situations.

Requires a lot of volunteer work to keep the place as good as it is updating the CBA at this stage might be better with a clean start of actual practice.
