It's hilarious that we're being told Jake isn't dressing because of how well Percy is playing.
No reference to the horrible play of Robidas or Phaneuf - would be a tough sell to tell me Morgan or Franson were any better then Jake. Polak sure - he's been solid. But Robidas is awful, Dion's turning speed is that of an 18 wheeler and his passes are frigging grenades. Not saying Jake has been awesome, but his turnover up the boards that keeps getting shown over and over it just a straight up miss by Kozun, have no idea how he's getting blamed for it. Other turnovers behind the net sure... but he's STILL our best possession player, him and Reilly are easily our best pairing when together, even if they due get hemmed in our own zone once a game -> the rest of the time they skate that shit outta trouble when our wingers are bagged & about as committed to D as anyone on the Oilers.

Occasionally sit the slow-footed, aging defender coming back from two consecutive broken legs in favour of a puck-moving young defenceman? Madness. The BBKL Insider wroteCOLONi'm not going to lie, i read the first two lines of nicks post, but i agree

if they are goign to play 7 dmen then robidas needs some breaks before he actually breaks something

8.25 cap hit bro. it's not that he's not good but why would we move a good young forward like kadri and a 1st rounder for him? Kadri is going to get better and we clearly suck so our 1st can be pretty valuable. 1st are worth way more in the real nhl than bbkl. You really think the only problem is team has is a lack of a #1 C? The d core is trash and the system doesn't fit the trash players.kimmer wroteCOLONArian i know u dont watch much canes but u cant treat staal like hes nothing hes only missed 17 games in his entire career r

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I agree with most of what you are saying, although I think the biggest criticism against Gardiner is his inability to break up the cycle and win board battles for loose pucks. That being said, I would still dress him seven days a week over Cody Franson. Stephane Robidas hasn't been much better, but that is to be expected given his injury history and absence from most of training camp.Nick wroteCOLONIt's hilarious that we're being told Jake isn't dressing because of how well Percy is playing.

I also wouldn't pair Gardiner and Rielly together, those two are a mess together in their own zone, I much prefer them alongside a more responsible defender. Perhaps:
Dion Phaneuf - Stephane Robidas
Stuart Percy - Jake Gardiner
Morgan Rielly - Roman Polak

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I'm actually very encouraged by the improved board play, puck support and transition coming out of the D-zone the last two games. There are still areas to improve, but the early returns are promising. Last season the Leafs didn't have a single line that could cycle the puck consistently, through four games the second and third lines have proven a handful for the opposition down low.Arian The Insider wroteCOLON8.25 cap hit bro. it's not that he's not good but why would we move a good young forward like kadri and a 1st rounder for him? I would also caution against confusing the media's asking price with the real asking price for Eric Staal. The latter is almost always lower than the former. Look no further than the Jason Spezza trade this summer (Nicolas Paul, Alex Chiasson, Alex Guptill and a 2nd).
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
yep. away from the world of TSN or HFBoards, Kadri + Gardiner is enough for Staal easily.
if it were to happen I'd rather do Bozak than Kadri personally.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
If the Leafs ever got Eric Staal I think the smart money is to try and build two balanced lines. The top line would burn the opposition off the rush, and the second line would go to work down low.Nick wroteCOLONI'd move either of them in a heartbeat for a player like Eric Staal. I don't even think he would work that well with Phil, but he makes a dangerous line all by himself.
James van Riemsdyk - Tyler Bozak - Phil Kessel
Joffrey Lupul - Eric Staal - Daniel Winnik
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
thats true, team getting the high cap player always wins deals in real life and (BBKL). Pretty sure we can have him for a reasonable price
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
if we could somehow pull off moving lupul instead of bozak/kadri that would be ideal.
lupul + gardiner + 1st 2015
lupul + gardiner + 1st 2015
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
oh god the thought of having the option to play bozak as our 3rd line C... *drool*
