How is Winnipeg still in the playoffs? That defense corps has bodies strewn everywhere.
After Trouba, Stuart, Enstrom, and Bogosian are on long term ir, there defense is something like:
Byfuglien-Chiarot
Harrison-Postma
Pardy-Clitsome

Thats actually a pretty great trade for you. His stats at 16 minutes a night are already strong. if he is getting 22 or 23 you may have a stud on your hands. I'll give you a 5th for him.

Yea for an atrocious NHLer he's a pretty strong bottom pairing BBKLer. Pretty happy with this move, he was getting scratched a 1/3 of the games in Carolina but should be racking up GP now.

Big mystery as to why dion still has the "C"...
Actually, it's not much of a mystery. The team had gone 3-4 years without a captain after Sundin retired. There was pressure to name a new one. They went with the first "Big, rugged" marquee player they could find. Problem is the guy had been ostracized from his last team because of his shitty attitude.
It's time to strip Dion of his captaincy. He's an effective player when used in a modest capacity, but he lacks the necessary traits to facilitate group accountability. The team will never do anything substantial while he's wearing the C. It sucks. They're a talented group. Flawed, but talented. They need someone to help them grow.

The team will not win cause the team is not good - you're not gonna win any games when you get outshot by 15+ a game and have zero puck possession. You misinterpret the role of the captain and I challenge you to point out a better selection on the leafs. They don't have any good leaders period. And captains do nothing to make players "grow".
I completely agree dion is not a great captain, but stripping the C midseason has no benefits.

A lack of a top C magnifies every other shortcoming the leafs have.
Our best player is extremely one dimensional
Our top C is not hard to play against physically, offensively or to match up against.
Our D is perhaps the least insulated group in the NHL; results in too many tough situations for basically every member of the back end. Dion & Cody are by far the most reliable yet lack minute eating ability, when they are over played they make a ton of bone head decisions. Robidas and Polak are exactly as billed, Reilly and Gardiner are anything but consistent - jake was literally the best and worst leaf in the hawks game.

At least the Leafs are in a playoff picture. Bruins are having a "bridge year". A bridge to what you say? exactly.....a bridge to nowhere.
