I don't think Paajarvi would have helped Malkin all that much though.

no guarantees obviously. Still almost impossible even for a hitchcocked (out of confidence) Paajarvi to hurt more than those pathetic wingers are currently doing, and it was a try available for free...
won't even bother to reply to Kim

Amazing contract. Super jealous the leafs don't take that approach more often.

meh, they have more overpaid contracts than any other team in the NHL
Bolland - 5.5
Jokinen - 4.0
Campbell - 7.2
Fleicshman - 4.5
Upshall - 3.5
Willie Mitchell - 4.25
Kopecky - 3.0
they at least need 1 good contract

i mean they essentially did the same thing with both JVR and Gardiner. there's only so many young players who haven't reached their potential that you can lock up longer term at a reasonable rate on a team.

Jake Gardiner sucks and should have been traded in the offseason.

at the time of the deal he certainly did not "suck" - bjugstad could easily level off next season and "suck" too. that's the risk in these contracts.

5 guys should be safe: The top line, Rielly, Bernier
